Serious question…do we really expect a coach to be named while the season is still going?

Wouldn’t that be would be super weird for any hire. They still have a lot of football to play/coach and there’s no way any of the names we are looking at will announce they are going to LSU while they still have games to play for their current school.

Coaches leave before bowl games all the time. They don't leave before conference championship/playoff games though.

Heck I even remember Les Miles’ epic “Damn strong football team….ask me after” rant prior to the National championship game. And that was before the LAST game of the season…he didn’t want it to be a distraction. I would think that none of these coaches are going to commit until they’ve played their last game with their current school. How do you go back into the locker room and face your players if you announce you’re leaving for LSU and you still have games to play.

No. A coach is going want to finish the regular season and any conference championship game before announcing they are leaving.

No, he would have to pull a Jim Irsay and leave in the middle of the night just to ensure the safety of his family.
