The realistic goal for LSU is to consistently beat Ole Miss, Miss State, Ark, TA&M, Auburn and break even with elite resource schools like Bama and Florida.

Wait. So you think Ensminger, who has been on staff for years, is going to magically correct the QB recruiting and development issues?

Me, I prefer the Will Wade approach. Hire a talented, hungry, and young coach to sell a vision and recruit their balls off.

Hope you're right, but we both know it's unlikely.

support the hire because he had success against conference foes and didnt have qb talent to compete with elite foes. That result will happen to any coordinator that has ever lived.

Agree with Rou Leed speaking from the dead....

2016 Opponents Defensive Rankings (Stats Starting Mo game)
Wins
Total Defense: 71
Rush Defense: 81
Scoring Defense: 67

Opponents Records
Average wins: 7
Average Losses: 6

Losses
Total Defense: 4
Rush Defense: 20
Scoring Defense: 4

Opponents Records
Average wins: 12
Average Losses: 3

Here are the mighty teams we beat and how they rank on defense:

This is out of 128 teams.

Southern Miss total defense 19; rush defense 54

TAMU total defense 96; rush defense 83

Arkansas total defense 84; rush defense 102

Ole Miss total defense 101; rush defense 113

Missouri total defense 117; rush defense 118.

What the hell does this say about how difficult it is to call plays against these teams?
Texas Tech had a better rush defense than Missouri to put that into perspective.

This is how it played out last year.

We score 42 on Missouri. They give up 40 to UF, 63 to Tennessee, 35 to Kentucky, 31 to USCe, 51 to fricking Middle Tennessee

We score 45 on Southern Miss. Old Dominion and UTSA scored points on Southern Miss than LSU.

We score 38 on Ole Miss. Same amount as Vandy, less than Miss St, Auburn, Alabama, etc

Shutout by Alabama. Chattanooga and Western Kentucky scored more points than LSU. Arkansas put up 30 on Bama.

We score 10 on Florida. Tennessee, Bama, Fla St, and Arkansas all score more than 30.

We score 54 on Texas A&M. They gave up more than 30 five times with that vaunted Chavis D.
