Personally, I think it's fine for us fans to talk, complain, hope and argue amongst ourselves about the future of LSU football on an anonymous website.
But I think it is completely wrong for the media to enter into the discussion in a public manner. I can't tell you why I think it's wrong I just don't agree with it, although I agreed with a lot of what he said.
If and only if, Michigan has publicly stated or concrete evidence exists that they want Miles and are pursuing him should that article have been written.
Otherwise it's pure speculation and wishful thinking on rabalais's part.

I agree.
With nobody (neither Miles nor Michigan) saying anything public yet, this is irresponsible journalism.
A phrase which, in today's world, is a bit of a redundancy.

Article reads like an idiot on a message board wrote it and he actually gets paid as a writer for a newspaper.

Wow Rabalais, hyperbole much? The vast majority regard Les as a top-notch coach. Many are not happy with our offense, me included, but to characterize the entire fanbase as not regarding Les a top-notch coach is ridiculous.

24 hour media injured legitimate journalism. Social media appeared and finished legit journalism off.
Every story is rushed out there, more often than not exaggerated or intended to provoke the reader. Click me articles intended to be forwarded to others, to get attention.
Regular news is garbage, sports journalism is trash more often than not now. They have to make a buck to survive and all have become attention whores in the process. Hence, articles like Rabalais, Thayer Evans, etc.

The underlying truth behind Rabalais' article is this: LSU doesn't deserve Les Miles. The LSU fanbase (and that includes the local media) is delusionally unrealistic. It believes that if only we could find that Saban clone, he could do at LSU what Saban has done at Alabama. Even Saban couldn't (and didn't) do at LSU what he has done at Alabama, because LSU isn't Alabama. Never was. Never will be. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Miles has given LSU far more than LSU has given him, financially and in the currency of loyalty. He should do what his heart and his head tell him to do, whether it's to stay or to go if the opportunity is presented. I, for one, hope he wants to stay at LSU. But he is, in every sense of the term, a free agent.

Unbelievable that the city's main newspaper would put that out there. It's a huge slap in the face to Miles and to LSU.
Having said that, Les has been underappreciated. There are plenty of idiots who think every coach in America except Bill Belichick will drop everything and come to the football Mecca that is LSU. There are other fan bases that have had that mentality, of course -- Texas comes to mind. So does Michigan. And Florida. And Tennessee. And USC to a certain extent. The country is littered with examples of thinking like that, and regretting it later. We are at stage one of that. If Les does leave, stage two will start soon.
Unless, of course, Saban drops everything and comes back. That's all that will satisfy the idiots. Anything short of that, and the same crap will be said about the next guy too.

@Choctaw
I agree, this article is complete bullshite.
Rabalais, and the rest of Tiger Nation, has seen Miles coach LSU through the best 10 year period in the history of the program. You really do have to possess a special kind of ignorance to run off a coach that is absolutely the best fit for your program.

While I don't care for the article because I tend to not like these types of writings, I believe it needs to be said for some of the slower people...
THE ARTICLE IS WRITTEN TONGUE-IN-CHEEK!
Meaning it is pointing out how good Miles is and in turn, scold the LSU fans that think they can do better. Scott is a good guy and definitely a Miles fan; anyone calling otherwise must never read his work.

One of two things is true and both are a sin in writing.
By far the most likely is you're absolutely wrong. There is nothing to suggest that the article is satire, tongue-in-cheek, or sarcastic. It appears to be a serious article. This isn't a case of Poe's law, just that there is nothing that would clue one in to this type of premise.
Far less likely, but much more damning is that it is incompetently written satire. If it is indeed written as satire or parody, it is the worst article ever written that way because no one can tell what is trying to be accomplished by the piece. Unfortunately, it is more damning that he can't write properly than if the piece is serious.

The article was written with hyperbole to make a point. It was just really poorly done; it's crap.

I think it is time for Scott Rabalais to move on….to leave…..to accept that job at the National Enquirer. The guy is a moron.

Again, what is hyperbole in the article? He hedges by saying a large part of the fanbase hasn't accepted him. I absolutely don't see a hint of satire here. It appears serious. If it is serious, it's just dumb. If it is intended to be a satirical thought piece, in terms of writing, it is a crime against humanity.
