Zimmer wants his assistants to progress not stay under his control.

At the same time we’re interviewing Nielsen, Dennis Allen was interviewing for HC jobs. The Saints wanted to keep Nielsen, especially if Allen had gotten a HC job. He would’ve been the next DC.

Oh you mean like Joe Lombardi, Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn?

Payton loves when his coaches progress. He wanted to keep Nielsen. And gave him a better job than the one he was going to get to do it.

No.

Payton probably was going to give Nielson DC status had Dennis Allen gotten a HC job. He's part of the succession plan.

All NFL coaches have that clause in their contracts . Payton was disrespected by LSU, your talking Apples and Oranges two different teams .

The Saints don’t exactly have a great track record of being a well run organization. Their decision making process isn’t a concern.

Saints were desperate to keep staffing, unlike the Vikings, the saints are losing multiple coaches, and Jones’ contract clearly didn’t have any restrictions. Take it for what it is.

his board will do anything to discredit anyone who didn’t coordinate the best defense in college football last year

Or point out the truth. In any other situation Jones doesn't get an interview.
