we seem to be at odds, why I am not clear. The point someone was making is that their decomits were related to the UT coaching issues and Sabin.
I was curious if they had named ANOTHER school they would attend instead. I did see the two decomits to Bama and said I did not think these two decomits were related to the Bruhaha going on.

If he was going to leave he'd be doing sothis week at the latest so the Kirby Smart could be named the interim coach for the Sugar Bowl.
What does his contract pay him extra to coach a BCS bowl game? What's his pay day for staying an extra week or 2? It's usually about the money. How farfetched is that?

Nothing is farfetched that keeps this story alive and the timeline moving. Next week guys, next week.

Two issues with this:
1) so he's going to stay an extra week or two for $200K when he has "$100M" waiting on him at texas? (no one with a brain thinks that number is real)
2) typical coach contracts pay a coach for the team reaching a bcs bowl game. the coach gets the bonus for the bcs bowl game invitation, not coaching it it. he did his job in terms of the bowl revenue generated whether he coaches in the game or not.

It's been awful quiet on the Texas side. If they were in such a panic, why haven't they moved on this with a bit more urgency? Maybe they are waiting until after the bowls. That would give them and Saban more time to work things out.

Saban does not want to be seen as the guy that forced Mack out... Announcement if there is one, will be made after the Sugar Bowl, but before the NC game.. (I do not think he leaves)

Then you are smarter than the average on this board. The gumps look bad constantly trying to convince people that Saban would never leave (though, at this point, they look right), but the rest of us look bad clinging to every pathetic rumor that "he gone".
The truth is that no one on this board knows the full truth. We all know partial info and what we choose to believe. Right, The Doc?

At the time, I wouldn't have thought $250 million over 10 years for A-Rod would've been real. And now, that's become more or less the going rate for MLB stars.
The money has gotten out of hand. It's ruining sports.

Let's play along and suppose that Saban really is waiting til after the bowl game to bolt to Texas. What could he possibly say at his introductory press conference that would allow him to keep any shred of integrity?
If I were writing his script I guess I'd go:
"During the weeks before the bowl game, I was fully committed to the University of Alabama, recruiting the next class, and preparing for the bowl game. It is a very busy time of year and quite frankly I did not have the time to consider offers from other schools. It was not even on my radar. But since the bowl game, I've had a chance to sit down with my family and talk about the future. The University of Texas is a truly remarkable institution, and I felt there was no better place to finish my career."
Would something like that sound reasonable enough?

Does Saban say this or his wife?

I've been hearing this since the 1970's, but sports just keep maintaining or even increasing their popularity.

crazy thing is that that statement sounds very reasonable.....
i have said it many times, i do not care if stays or goes, but this stuff if very entertaining to watch play out.
for all of you that are certain that saban is staying...you know that you will all lose sleep jan 2nd, and be glued to this board (or where ever you get info from) on Jan 3rd.

I'm not going be surprised either way.
Saban stays and it's not about the money
or
Saban leaves because well...its Saban.

A whole lot of truth in this statement. Money already HAS ruined baseball and it's slowly killing college football. No disrespect to aTm or Mizzou but I hate the whole realignment deal. It has killed many traditional rivalries and will kill more before it's over. Although I'm a Bama fan to the core, as a kid I used to plan my weekend around OU/Nebraska. Now they don't even play. All because of the relentless pursuit of the almighty dollar

Reasonable enough on the surface, but if he included the bold phrasing or any variation thereof then he'd get slammed, particularly since he said this:
"Maybe this will be what the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay thing was to the NFL the last couple of years. That kind of ended the pro speculation. Maybe this will end the college speculation. This is where I'm going to finish my coaching career."
This is where I'll finish my career

Cute.
So was "Guess I'll just have to say it, I'm not going to be the coach at Alabama".
