Nah he's coming to Clemson regardless.
It would be a great decision for him to go to Clemson with Chad Morris there...with anyone else there, meh. Good luck to him.

Clemson is my third favorite team behind Auburn and Florida State, but Dabo Swinney is not the answer there. They need to just hire Chad Morris as the head coach and end it. This is the kind of scenario Auburn fans wanted after 2011 with Gus Malzahn and Gene Chizik... We see what ended up happening and it wasn't good.

Yabba Dabba is laying in a fetal position sucking his thumb having nightmares about Morris leaving. If he leaves yabba dabba is done.

Eh, I was one of the biggest proponents against hiring Dabo and have always been one of his biggest critics.

Having said that, it's hard to deny that he's grown quite a bit. He'll never be a Saban/Petrino/Malzahn Xs and Os guru, but he can be a CEO type like Miles or Fisher.

No one thinks Jimbo is an Xs and Os guru, but he excels in talent acquisition and that's nine tenths of the war in college football. Dabo has also identified and hired some of the top coaches in America.

He stole Venables away from Oklahoma who has done good things with the defense. He identified Morris when he was a nobody.

Dabo is far from my top choice as a Head Coach, but he's better than most give him credit for. Clemson could do better, but we've seen throughout the 90s and 2000s that we could do alot worse as well.

I couldn't see Morris taking a HC job not in Texas starting out. He'll also require a big arse recruiting budget.

Morris maybe holding out for TCU or A&M.

He's not holding out for A&M just yet. He likely needs head coach experience before he'd get much consideration and he was flat told that last time around.

Morris would fit well at Rice if Bailiff moves to greener pastures as well. I think he would kill it there (or SMU). Coaching somewhere in or in close proximity to TX where he can make the best of those HS ties would be in his best interest I would think

"Stole" Venables? Venables was hot garbage at OU and had to find another job because Bob was replacing his arse with Mike no matter what.

That said he has done good work getting much improvement out of Clemson's D, but I would't be too confident things would ever get much better than they are now. (25 points and 350 yards a game)

Goodpoint rolltide. Venables had worn out his welcome at OU. Bob was trying not to fire him and told him to go find another job so he could bring Mike back.

And going back to read that post brought this gem too. When Morris was a nobody? Morris was well known around Texas as an offensive genius before Dabo ever had a job.

He was a consultant to Sherman's A&M staff when he was still coaching at LT. He was a Texas HS coaching legend winning something like 3 titles in a row by the age of 40 (across multiple schools). And hell, he was an Associate HC/OC for Todd Graham before coming to Clemson.

A&M video of Chad Morris from 2009
