Don't you think relying on assistants for recruiting is better than relying on assistants to win games for you on both sides of the ball and developing your players? My god, how much are we going to have to rely on our coordinators for? Are we basically going to have three head coaches? But why?

Recruiting is essential. That much is obvious.
However, no matter who is the next coach, he will not outrecruit Saban. No one does. Saban will have the number 1 class nearly every year and will rarely, if ever, be outside the top 5.
As such, we have to have an innovative scheme to help mitigate and/or overcome the talent difference. Miles never offered that. Orgeron doesn't offer it either. We can't keep trying the same approach.
In dealing with the reality of Saban at Bama, a top 15-20 recruiting class with an elite scheme is superior to a top 5 recruiting class with a motivator who can't play chess. Hopefully we can combine the two, but to hire the latter at the expense of the former is the definition of crazy at this point.
