Is the only thing I can think why he would come to LSU. And the timing is there where he could do just that.

He's also more likely to win as HC of LSU compared to Oklahoma when they join our division

How is he not building his own legacy at OU?

Well his legacy at OU is losing in the playoffs.

Perhaps he'd like to win championships at LSU?

Oklahoma has a few NC coaches. So does LSU. Riley is far removed from Stoops’ shadow at this point.

Which has nothing to do when he was first hired and was left with.

Riley's potential legacy at LSU is dynasty. He doesn't have that potential at OU, not matter how much they believe it.

Again, this would be his main motivation besides an easy recruiting ground and the money…

Maybe he knows OU will have a difficult road when they join the SEC? They already get beat by SEC teams on the regular. If he has a chance to go to one of the top jobs in the SEC instead of riding in the backseat why wouldn’t he?

$aban walked into a dumpster fire program at Alabama and build it into the perennial juggernaut of college football.

Riley coming into a program at LSU that's probably 2 years away from another title run is not nearly the same. It would be a lateral move, or slight upgrade at best. He's got all the security he wants at OU. At LSU, the competition is the toughest conference in CFB history, and LSU fired Les Miles (who averaged 10 wins a season fwiw) because he could no longer compete with the greatest dynasty in college football history.

Oklahoma is one of the blue blood programs. Their head coaches don't just abscond for other schools, for a reason.

Well, he lost a ton of leverage with OU today so I'd say the odds of him coming are exponentially greater than they were at the beginning of the day.

LSU has won 3 and played in 4 championships since OU's last championship. And that is with 3 different coaches.

This is stupid to me.

He would be paid to where his buyout would be insane. That is "all the security" he would need.

And at what point does OU maybe get tired of being bounced every year in the playoffs? On one hand y'all talk like OU is a big time program and then on the other you act like this won't get old for them? Which is it?

Perhaps Riley believes in himself and envisions what he could do at LSU.

Their last national championship win was in 2000.

For 21 years, it seems they've been fine with dominating their conference and then getting embarrassed in the postseason. Suddenly that will change now of all times?
