I never understood this logic. Leaking the information doesn’t make it any more or less true. The money people know exactly what’s going on. Leaking information doesn’t change that. If all of the rumors flying around are true about the time line and such, Riley likely tried to get more money for himself and assistants and was shot down. There’s no benefit here.

It’s about bringing in the media and fanbase/boosters to add more pressure to the negotiations. They all do it or at least the ones who want to stay put for more money or start a bidding war.
