When Texas is good, the top kids from the state commit immediately. They dont even think about trips, they want to wear the burnt orange.

No but he has a wife and young kids and Austin is a nicer, cleaner, safer, better looking place with almost no crime and public schools that you can (and everyone does) send your kids to. It's got nothing to do with being a hipster.

If Herman is really competitive then the LSU job will be even more appealing. You'd think part of him wants to coach against other top coaches and talented rosters.
Mind you the last time Texas had a vacancy they had to settle for someone on their "B" list. Everyone else declined them.

Exactly- and by the way, UT is not the job it once was- kids have grown up with UT questionable being in the top 5 best schools to play at in Texas. And USC? Bunch of bandwagon fans, no where near the enthusiasm as in the South.
My concern is whether LSU will seriously consider Herman- I really think LSU is not as high on Herman as people would think.

It's his dream job because he'll make an asinine amount of money, for which he will pay no state income taxes , he'll have an awesome spread on the bluff over looking Lake Travis, his kids will attend, arguably, the best public schools in the state, and last but not least, just win and you'll be treated like a god for the rest of your life...at his age legendary status is well within range.

USC . . . because how much nicer SOCal is . . .
You been to USC? Its in the middle of Watts dude. Not a safe area at all. Never has been, never will be. Sure you can see the skyscrapers downtown from upper stories in some campus buildings, but those are office buildings downtown. Not like NYC. Very little to no nightlife nearby.
Its only about 20 miles, but more like 2 hours in traffic to the beach from USC.
If one wants the LA experience as a coach, they coach at UCLA.
