I'm a big fan of O's if you look back at any of my posts, but I am also a HUGE fan of Herman's. I like Fisher but not sold, can accept him over many others though.

Saying that to put into context that while I like O, I'm a realist. I've heard several head coaches give coaching presentations over the past several years and O was one of the better after his stint at USC. However, he killed his shot Saturday. Maybe if he had beaten Alabama, but even then... this is Alleva's hire, a statement hire that is going to determine his legacy at LSU. You cannot - repeat - you cannot lose that game to Florida. Any other season it wouldn't have mattered. This season, however, with all the turmoil surrounding that game being rescheduled - losing that game is embarrassing to Alleva.

I can say with certainty about my opinion that Orgeron will not be retained. Also, having talked with him in the past - he won't stay at LSU if not retained. Too much pride and he knows he can be a successful head coach - I don't doubt that he can. It just won't be at LSU.

Listening to Herman this past spring, amazing presentation and the only other coach I have heard with as much in depth technical knowledge of the game is Aranda. I can only imagine the success this team could have if they hit it off well together and both stayed here a long time (not happening either since Aranda will head coach somewhere in the coming years)

Coach O will be the next HC for the Cajuns.

I'm not reading that.

His lifetime losing record as a head coach seems solid enough as a reason.

What gives you the idea that he can be a successful coach ? I'm really just trying to find someone to give me something besides recruiting or motivation.

yeah i laugh at that

how are you sold on/big fans of O but not sold on Fisher?

O holds no discernible coaching advantage over Fisher that I can think of, maybe DL recruiting 1v1?

I am curious what makes people think this...but I don't think I'll ever understand.

I doubt that he can. His lifetime record as a head coach sucks.

Based on what? Present your argument.

Better be Herman or better. You don't make a statement by hiring Les Miles OC to replace him.

The reason is that he isn't deserving of the job. It's really that simple. If he wants to be the head coach of a big time program, he needs to go to a smaller school, and and build it up. Same as damn near every other successful coach.

Yeah that's way to many words for the title of this thread.

Again, having sat through numerous presentations and lectures from Head Coaches over the years I have been privileged to listen to some great guys speak. I won't go into depth on those, just that from a coaching perspective I went from not liking O to being a fan. Herman was amazing, I wasn't very impressed with Butch or Mcelwain. I was blown away by Herman and I gained a bit of respect for O.

I can only say that beyond watching Fisher on TV and applying win-loss records, he seems pretty good. Unfortunately I haven't been able to sit and hear him with any presentations. That is the sole reason I'm not sold - I'm not going to make a judgment of someone's capability to coach based off snippets and records that can be influenced by factors not related to coaching capability (not saying that is why O was horrible at Ole Miss, I had nothing for him before meeting him and sitting through a coaching presentation)

I agree. Let him do this at a smaller school.

Agree he should go to a smaller school, but he did have a legit chance (albeit an uphill battle) when he was placed as an interim no matter what the armchair administrators think
