Realize this while you're melting

Woodward believes the next LSU coach is better than Napier.
He's either already made the deal with someone he thinks is better than Napier, or he knows he'll never get far enough down his list to get a yes from someone he thinks is better than Napier.
I know a lot of you had Napier as your top choice, but clearly he was pretty far down Woodward's list.
I believe what I'm saying is true, because Woodward could have swooped in today and hired Napier if he wanted to.

Or Napier got tired of waiting for a phone call and Woodward thought he had his guy until he didn’t have his guy and now it’s too late to call Napier.

I think that at this point Napier was pretty sour towards LSU.. he wouldn’t have accepted a last second offer based on principle

what you don't get is we're questioning the list. if napier was below jimbo or BOB then that is a problem

And here's one that'll REALLY blow your mind...
Scott Woodward knows more about these coaches than anybody on this board does.
He does this for a living, has done it for a long time and is generally recognized as being pretty damned good at it.
So if he's not that impressed with Billy Napier, maybe it's that Billy Napier isn't all that good. Let's remember that the guy who just hired Napier is the same guy who hired Dan Mullen because he'd had him at Mississippi State - and that guy just had to fire the coach he'd hired.

Obviously Woodward could be wrong. But he's paid to put his list together and make that call.
People are calling Woodward out over Napier to Florida, when it's very obvious that Napier was never considered for the LSU job.
I'm not sure why this is some kind of a bad look for Woodward, when it's clear he just flat out didn't want the guy.
