Pros and Cons of Jimbo versus anyone else on the list

Pros:
1. Coached at LSU, he is familar with the school. Loved his time at LSU
2. Coached under Saban and Bobby Bowden (won National title as OC)
3. QB coach and OC experience
4. HC experience at big time Program
5. Won 4 ACC titles as HC (Brought FSU back to relevance)
6. Recruited and coached a Heisman winner
7. Won a National Title
8. Consistently delivers top 5 recruiting classes while competing for players in a state with other big programs.
9. Knows the recruiting landscape of the SEC
10. Knows the SEC culture and environment. nothing too big for him
11. High Energy guy
12. Loves to coach, major passion
13. Handles the media well
14. Age 50...which means he could be a 10-15 year guy in the middle of his prime
15. Likable guy
16. Respected in the coaching community
17. Could be the OC if necessary.
18. Talks fast, very confident guy, lots of football content rolls out all the time.
19. Loves LA outdoor (hunting and fishing) people say he misses it
20. Skip Bertman loves Jimbo "worth every penny"
Cons:
1. Going through personal pain of divorce, sick child, might not be his best mentally?
2. Might run bubble screens too much, might need to adapt his offense some.
3. FSU team this year starts slow in games. Not sure why
Herman:
Pros:
1. Coached 2 years at Houston, mixed results beat OU
2. Coached under Urban Meyer
3. Young /rising star in coaching
4. Won National Title as OC under Urban, beat Bama with 3rd string QB
Cons:
1. Never won a championship
2. Young
3. Never coached SEC
4. Never recruited SEC
5. Risky higher, all on potential, not actual results, he probably would rather live in Texas or California

I agree with your points. I was thinking during the game that all the selling points for O are true of Jimbo in terms of top notch recruiting, likely to keep the best guys on staff around, etc. Then you add the offensive expertise and it's a pretty good, safe choice

The personal issues are a reason I think he might come. Dude may need a change of scenery. I know if what happened to him happened to me I'd be looking for a fresh start.

All your points are valid , but what sold me on Jimbo was Skip Bertman. His interview with Hannagriff was amazing stuff. 30
For 30 quality info. But specifically with regard to Jimbo he said -
"Worth every penny it would take to get him"
" he's a young Steve Spurrier"
"He's the best I've seen pick an opponent apart form the sideline"
That sold me.
edit- more than anything I want Aranda on this staff long term and I don't know how to make that happen without making him HC.

Aranda could have a hc job as early as next year. No way he is at lsu in 2018

I hope we get Jimbo and he keeps Aranda and some other guys on staff. the other guys I want would be coach O, Raymond, and Ensminger. we also need a New Orleans recriter as NO is just different and you need a guy just for it.

I'm not against Jimbo, but he's not quite the homer in your list implies. He's probably the safest though, with the highest floor.
