Randy Edsell (?sp) @ UConn announced today he was staying.......he was the lead candidate for the GT job.

That most probably assured J.T. as the next head coach at G.T.

I have to believe that their list is longer than 2 names.

Yeah, I've never heard Tenuta's name really circulated as an HC. Either he's not interested or he wouldn't make a good candidate....

scanning their boards, Paul Johnson and Muschamp keep coming up, FWIW. A Muschamp hire over there would guarantee that Tenuta was free...

ETA: and hatcher, whoever the frick that is.

I'd also like to see Muschamp out of the SEC, if he's not working for us.

Hiring Muschamp over Tenuta would be interesting.

They are both DC's, never been head coaches, but one is a LITTLE younger than the other with less experience.

Georgia Southern HC

Found some info courtesy of espn:

quote:

Georgia Southern coach Chris Hatcher is one of the leading candidates to replace Chan Gailey, who was fired as Georgia Tech's coach on Monday. Sources familiar with the search on Friday said Hatcher and Connecticut coach Randy Edsall were among the first candidates contacted about the position. Hatcher, a native of Macon, Ga., led the Eagles to a 7-4 record in his first season at Georgia Southern. He had a 76-12 record at Valdosta State, leading the Blazers to the 2004 NCAA Division II national championship. Hatcher is regarded as one of the best quarterback coaches in the country, previously tutoring Daunte Culpepper at Central Florida and Tim Couch at Kentucky. Other candidates believed to be in the mix at Georgia Tech include: former Washington coach Rick Neuheisel, Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, East Carolina coach Skip Holtz, Navy coach Paul Johnson and Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong. Defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta, who will serve as Tech's interim coach in a bowl game, also will be given serious consideration for the job.
