“We’re all on the same page,” Tucker said Saturday. “We see the game of football the same. We believe in what we’re doing, we believe in our process from top to bottom, A to Z. We’re not experimenting with anything. Everything is part of our process, and when we stick to it that translates to the players. What we tell our players and how we go about our business really resonates with them. They know we have a plan for them and it’s a winning plan. It’s a winning formula. They pour into it, they buy in and that’s something we continue to hammer every day. We’re always selling our process, always hammering the details, the sense of urgency, the accountability, the team work, the discipline. When you do that day after day after day after day, you get guys to buy in. And when you have good players — good talent — willing to put work in, you have a chance to get what you want.

“Ask the players: What do you want and what are you willing to do to get it? Everything we’ve gotten so far, we’ve earned it. No one has given us anything.”

But Tucker doesn't fit the "splash hire" narrative we always hear about.

I don't think that there is a "splash hire" this offseason. Each coach that we are looking into has some sort of flaw or their resume isn't quite what you would want it to be.

Orgeron was a splash hire... assuming you count belly flops.

Until 2021, Mel Tucker hasn't had any success worth talking about and beating Jim Harbaugh, who is notorious for choking in big games, isn't exactly a feat worthy of LSU hiring Tucker.

He may turnout to be a good head coach in the future. However, at the same time, he may turn out to be Tom Herman part two. At this early stage of his career, anybodies guess is as good as anyone's else's guess. As we just don't know.

Which is why LSU can't afford to roll the dice on people like Mel Tucker or like Billy Napier or like Dave Aranda because there are too many unknowns at this time.

Meanwhile, the crowd pushing for the likes of Lincoln Riley are just plain arse delusional people. The same with Dabo. I mean Dabo has a $50 million dollar buyout. Give me a freaking break.

Lastly, I don't want Jimbo and his very dysfunctional antiquated offense anywhere near the LSU campus. As a repeat of Les Miles would be sheer torture for me.

We’ll see what he believes when Purdue upsets them this week.

Take Tucker, Aranda, Napier for example. There is a small sample of their coaching but what about the behind the scenes stuff? Character? Work ethic? Can he recruit? How do the players react to him? Etc, etc, etc. I don't think we land the "White Whale." And Tucker may be just another pipe dream or not exactly what Scott is looking for... Do your homework Scott and get us the right pick regardless of our personal opinions. It's your job to get it right.

This is very general in nature. It all sounds terrific, but we have to hope there are a lot of specific tried and true tactics behind his “process.” All of these guys come with some uncertainty.

That's right. There are many more questions than answers with those guys which makes hiring them a role of the dice hire. Can LSU afford to role the dice?

Not to mention that if Scott makes the wrong hire, it will reflect on him and probably end up costing his job too.
