Nobody knows what saban will do except saban. I think he wants to try the NFL again.
Just my opinion. Anybody says he is staying or going doesn't know jack shite

If bama wants to negatively recruit using the raymond bs then we can start all the Saban bs we want. It's all part of the game. Why not start bs? What will it hurt?

Start? You've been doing it for 10 years.

So LSU just extended the contract and gave a raise to a guy who had 2 years remaining and there is nothing to the rumors? Why didn't they extend other coaches and give them a raise?
What is most likely is that he was considering other schools and some schools mentioned that to recruits. LSU decided to put that to bed now and extended him and gave him a raise (and announced during season instead of off season so that they could publicly put the issue to rest).

I'd argue that Bama is a "bigger stage" than the Jaguars or the Rams.

Saban had his head handed to him on a silver platter in the NFL. Like him or not he isn't stupid. He knows where he is out of his element.

SAban left many jobs. Bama is not a GOD despite what you think. He may stay but only because the timing worked for Bama. I do not think he will retire at Bama. Time will tell.

He will stay, of course, but it seems to go counter to so much of what makes Saban the success he is.
In other words, he's created a culture and infrastructure that, while not exactly on auto-pilot, comes pretty close. The program truly reloads and sells itself, so he and his staff can focus on the granular details like few others...and that results in an absurd W-L record year after year.
Does a man who is truly so driven, so committed to excellence, really okay deep down with being viewed as a failure at his sports highest level? All of the favorable comparisons to Bear and such are always going to come with the rejoinder of, "but he couldn't cut it in the NFL".
Mark me down as someone who thinks he'd kill it if he tried again. I think he's learned so much at both building and sustaining success at Bama that'd translate better than it did 10 years ago.

Not that I buy the rumors of him wanting to jump to the NFL, but I do think he would have greater success than the 1st time. His first go round he hadn't built his rep to the level it is now. He also didn't realize you can't treat a million dollar athlete the same as a college kid coming out of HS. He would also realize he can't treat his staff the same way either.
His biggest challenge; however, would be winning when you can't stack the deck like you do in college. What he's doing at Bama now is the equivalent of getting the first 5 picks of the draft every year.

Not that I'm advocating he will go back, but this mantra people have created about Saban comes off like some of you don't realize he coached in the NFL on two other occasions prior to the Dolphins. Two years as DB coach for the Oilers. And five years as a DC with the Browns.

SAban left many jobs
Every job he's ever had he left in 5 years or less. Except one. I think he's found his final stop. That may be in 2 years or it may be in 10, but I don't believe he will ever coach at another place. That's my opinion and it's based on observable facts. He's moved his mother to a retirement community in Bham (about 3 years ago). His kids and grandchild have made their home in Birmingham working at the Mercedes dealership that Saban owns. He's created deeper roots here than any other place he's been.

I don't think Bama is a God. As a believer I know full well who God is. I do believe Bama is a top 3 program of all time and it's hard to imagine someone walking away from that (and the above described roots) in the middle of a dynastic run that may not ever be matched. Not saying impossible, just saying hard to see.

Or bc he's evolved from someone who is always looking to someone who is content and happy where he is. It's funny how LSU fans act like they know Saban so well bc he was your coach for 5 years 12 years ago, but assume Bama fans don't know him better considering he's been our coach and living in our community for twice as long.

Saban is about to become the first coach to $10 million. He'll use every NFL job as leverage and Bama will easily bump him up with no questions asked. It goes even smoother if he wins the championship this year.
Battle's secretary tells him that Jimmy is on the phone.
Battle: I'm sending you paperwork over for the new contract. 11.5 for the next 5 years.
Sexton: Okay.
