Pelini would have been much better served to take a job like Southern Miss for a few yrs. This would give him the experience he needed as he moved on to a bigger job. If the guy never really liked the media here, what's going to happen the first time Neb gets run next yr. Pelini was the HC there for 1 game and they won. That's totally diff than being the HC for a whole season and going through the losses. I sure hope not, but I have a feeling we may be looking at an Archer situation again. He's biting off way more than he can chew.

no! do you think he is retarded?

I think there are 24 hours in a day and 7 days a week and that Bo has only one mind. Sure he would have time off between now and the bowl game regardless. AT SOME POINT, LSU coaches will begin intense preparations for Ohio State. Whenever that happens, will Bo be able to give as much time and focus to LSU as he would if he wasnt also the head coach of Nebraska? I dont see how that's even possible, unless he totally ignores the Nebraska job for that time period.

Like I said, evidently Les believes that a divided Pelini is still the best option right now. That's his call, and he'll live with it.

if you think whatever time he may lose next week by working with nebraska will hurt LSU you just don't much about the coaching profession

granted. What I do know is that coaches dont have a lot of free time, so i'm having a very hard time buying your line of reasoning. i.e., that Bo has plenty of time to handle both jobs.

At least we are playing tOSU. They run a pretty vanilla offense. LSU can have all of the film ready and Pelini can come in and put a plan together in a day or two.

There have been a few instances where the assistant leaving before the bowl game may have hurt their team. Friedgen (OC) before GT played LSU a few years ago in the Peach Bowl, and when the Stoops brother (DC) left OU for Arizona before the NC game.

i think in some instances it is WAY more plausible to let the guy leave..in 03 stoops and venebles were more than capable of running that D.....miles isn't

and i don't see how bringing in someone new and letting them run it or promoting a position coach for 1 month to the biggest job they ever would have had putting thee fate of miles' biggest game of his career in his hands that got the job by default is a better idea

and believe it or not, coaches don't use all 24/7/365 game planning

their mind hanldes different things, like hobbies, loved ones, interests, vacations etc....if anything suffers this holiday season from pelinis life, it is from that list....not LSU football

if pelini loses 8 hours, bet your arse he'll make it up on christmas day

we aren't talking about 8 hours to do a 9 hour job....

to answer the question, no...he may lose some time with other obligations......BUT SO MIGHT EVERY OTHER COACH. What if a coach has his wife get sicks, or heater goes out in the house. That may take time away from LSU. Many tings happen in these coaches lives, as with all of us.. We do not let our profession take every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day, of every week!!!

Other coaches have things going on as well, and they will also have distractions in their lives, BUT that isn't the issue!

The issue is whether or not time he misses or preparation he misses will hurt his team. EVERYONE close to the system says no.

They do not think he'll miss any time that would be detrimental to the team, so either you think the LSU players, Skip, Bo, Tom Osbourne, Les Miles and Bo pelini are wrong, or you think he will personally and intentionally sabotage LSU in this game.

What I do know is that coaches dont have a lot of free time

coaches and players have alot of free time at certain times.....right now is 1 of them

that is why they spend so much time and energy into recruiting, then when dead time hits, they get back to preparation

right now the players have free time too...their are on the weights, running or on the eliptical

pelini was gone, so we were not going to be able to use him to recruit right now anyway so we didn't lose anything there

Don't know about championship games, but you're right; it has happened in other bowl games and hardly ever turns out well (Richt with Fla St after accepting UGA job, for example)

In all fairness....Urban Meyer won a BCS bowl with UTAH 2 weeks after announcing he would be Florida's coach.
