I know this may sounds crazy, but the man and his family just might be happy at TCU.

it's the 1st thing you do if you're TCU, but may be moot. it worked with mike leach at TTU but who knows, you would think you'd want to go to a BCS conf and compete for NC's.

or as many people on this board probably want, just wait a year and continue to wear purple but in BR.

Maybe he believes there is something to the Mountain West expansion and pitch to join the BCS conferences. Honestly they would be stronger than the big east, big ten, and ACC this season.

I may have missed it, but Stoops say he's not interested in ND? I saw that he said "he intends to be at Oklahoma", but it seemed like a non-denial, denial.

Maybe his three boys were promised full rides to TCU.

Yeah... OK.

He wouldn't tell them it was a bad idea if asked, but he's not lobbying for it.

Truth is - Patterson in intensely loyal to TCU and he is emotionally connected to the university and community on a Bowden or Paterno-like level. He came in as an complete unknown as Dennis Franchion's DC - and when Franchion bolted for greener pastures, Patterson could have been kicked to the curb along with his fellow coaches. Instead, TCU gave him the HC job over several other well-known candidates - and he kept the staff relatively intact. In his 9 years as HC, they have given him relatively free reign on all new coaching hires and poured A LOT of money into facility and equipment upgrades.

quote:

We'll fight 'em til Hell freezes over, then we'll fight 'em on the ice.

--- Leo "Dutch" Meyer
Head Coach
TCU Football 1934-1952

Patterson is dedicated to returning the Horned Frog football program to it's former glory. They have a legacy from the 1930s that rivals LSU's from the 1950s. Patterson needs only 23 more wins to surpass Coach Meyer for the most wins, but more importantly - He is on a mission to win a National Championship at TCU while there are still members of the undefeated 1938 National Championship team alive.

As of this year - there are five left.

Good for him. My second favorite team and they're just a 25 minute drive away!

If the mountain west conference revamps and becomes a BCS conference, I don't see what would be wrong at staying there. He'd have legitimate shots at national titles, unlike this season where he's just got a prayer. Maybe he has some real inside info about the BCS and mountain west.

I'm thinking the Mountain West is gonna include Boise State in the very near future (like... 2011 wouldn't surprise me).

Signing a new contract means nothing. Lots of coaches sign contracts and leave. If the money is good, why leave TCU -- you are in a BCS Bowl Game and competing real close for a BCS.
