Nothing against Gilbert, but would have thought getting the BEST and BRIGHTEST would have meant a seasoned OC with more of a longer term as an OC in Power Five, and have some BIG game WIN experience?

Like who? Who is available, affordable, and willing to coach at LSU?

LSU is in desperate need of a radical change on offense.

Nah not really. And perhaps you don’t push the Ensminger done deal narrative quite as much as danfranz and others. You are however still very much a jackass in terms of your level of histrionics on this site.

Carry on indeed.

Sterlin Gilbert’s offense is heavily run based. I mean really heavily. Is that really what we want? These are his season averages the last 3 years at USF and Texas.

2017: 30.6 pass attempts to 52.8 rush attempts. 2016: 33.5 pass attempts to 49.6 rush attempts. 2015: 21.0 pass attempts to 44.1 rush attempts.

YES. YES. YES

We need to run the ball. The problem isn’t running the ball. We just need to do it wisely and create mismatches. Not Telegraph our plays and line up all 11 guys between the hashes so bama’s NFL front 7 can tee off on us

Very similar to Canada’s ratio of 23.1 PA to 43.3 RA. And his best year at Texas they had the 46th ranked scoring offense.
Not trying to troll, but tell me why we should want Gilbert?

Very different style than Canada. Texas had a top 20 offense in yards even in a rebuilding year with a young QB.

Gilbert runs the type of offense that LSU needs to beat teams like Bama, spreads guys out, gets players in space.

This would undoubtedly be the most talent Gilbert has ever coached.

I'm actually hoping for young and promising. Sort of a Will Wade, but football.

Who is available

Not many of these guys are available...until they are. Canada wasn't available last year, was he? Elko wasn't available for A&M. Neither was Aranda.

Availability ain't got shite to do with it.

Gilbert's last four offenses at four different universities have posted a combined average of 505.3 yards and 36.8 points per game, producing 304.3 yards per game through the air and 200.9 yards per game on the ground.

Gilbert's Texas offense ranked 17th in the nation and second in the Big 12 in rushing, posting 239.3 yards per game on the ground, and was 16th nationally and fifth in the Big 12 averaging 491.3 total yards per game.

Prior to Texas, Gilbert led a Tulsa offense that ranked 11th in the nation in passing (333.2 ypg), 13th in total offense (507.4 ypg) and 21st in scoring (37.2 ppg) in the nation.

QB Development

Under the guidance of Gilbert, QB Jimmy Garoppolo was named the 2013 Walter Payton Award winner, the FCS equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, given to the nation's best player. Garoppolo led the nation and ranked second in FCS single-season history with 5,050 passing yards, while ranking second in the nation and fourth in FCS history with 53 passing TDs. He was also third in the country in passing efficiency (168.3) and was chosen OVC Offensive Player of the Year.

During his two seasons with Gilbert, Garoppolo passed for 8,873 yards and 84 TDs. He finished his career seventh in FCS history with 13,156 passing yards, and sixth with 118 passing TDs. He went on to become a second-round draft choice by the New England Patriots in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Haha. I was just looking at that. USF was 51 at 30:44. LSU was 14 at over 32:34.

Texas was atrocious last year in the 28 minute range, but their defense was atrocious too.

We don't want that stupid USC pro style shite that will never beat Alabama or any really good defense.

How the hell do so many ppl have sources? How do you even go about getting a source?

You just have to know somebody that's knows somebody.

I don't get to talk to my source daily so I don't get the "up to the minute" info but what info I get from this person has been really accurate.

My source knows one of the big time boosters. Not sure which one but he's a big name lawyer in Louisiana apparently.
