The recruiting ploy doesn’t make any sense to me. Kind of a reach in my opinion.

Pro, you are, indeed, slow. If Riley has a new agreement in place with Oklahoma, it would behoove the Sooners to announce it now. Otherwise, they run the risk of other schools casting doubts about Riley's future at Oklahoma. Once that happens, it could be too late to draw those recruits back into to Sooner fold.

If that doesn't make sense to you, I don't know what else could.

Agreed. The other points he made may or may not be true. But the idea that he used this to boost his recruiting

Either its a total lie (most likely scenario) or Riley is way stupider than I thought he was. And I highly doubt its the latter.

As if recruits rely on official announcements as their only source of information? I guess nobody else is talking to them?

Of course official announcements aren't the only way recruits stay connected to the university. However, when you have smoke regarding the coach that is recruiting you, then that coach comes out and says "I love it here" instead of saying "no chance in hell I'm leaving," that will be brought up by other schools trying to stead the recruit.

So, while you may laugh, yes....if Riley had rejected LSU's interest and decided that there was no chance he was leaving OU, they would be announcing that from the rooftops.

I mean say what you want about our "insiders" but that guy loses any shred of believability pretending this was all some machiavellian recruiting ploy by Riley.

it actually makes him look bat shite crazy

It's not about them getting the info, its about them believing the info.

If I'm a recruit and I'm hearing Riley is staying from his camp, but there are rampant rumors of Riley to LSU, I'm going to be concerned. I'm thinking, if Riley is staying why hasn't it been officially announced?

Not even a formal announcement. The OU football program is obviously close with local reporters. They could easily tell them "hey...why don't you ask Lincoln about the LSU opening again?" Then Riley can come out with a much, much stronger denial.

To date, we haven't even gotten a weak denial from Riley. We've gotten no denial whatsoever. Just a "I love where I'm at" response.

Yeah, I just don't see the downside in either the school or Riley shutting this down. Neither have done so yet, and if the deal is done, they would have no reason not to pour water on this fire.

I didn't say the recruits were relying solely on official releases. Read the replies to your post to see that other posters agree - if Oklahoma has an agreement in place, it would be in their best interests to release the news.

This post is the closest thing I’ve heard from my family member that works in OU athletics.

And he’s been saying it from day 1

Maybe the truth is Oklahoma got used…

I mean if he stays It’s more likely a ploy used by Riley to secure a massive raise from Oklahoma after losing to Aranda and getting knocked out of the playoffs…again.

Of course Cs thinks it was recruiting ploy by Riley to slip into Louisiana and steal all LSU’s recruit.

So there’s that__

If we don't get Riley then we should go get the man who can build a defense to beat these fools. I'm good w Aranda being the fallback plan.

Unless there is someone out there that Woody is after that I have totally dismissed bc the likelihood seems to extreme to fathom.

So far we’ve gotten a “you know how I feel about this place” response. Not even a denial

Riley is coming

"the recruiting tactic" supposedly Riley is trying to do is BS!

NO way in hell, he will come and take big time recruits from Louisiana or goes play for him at OU. maybe the low end 3 stars recruits would.

if Riley stays at OU, his stock will drop after a few years when OU joins SEC. OU will be in the middle to the bottom of the pack of the SEC cuz OU don't have SEC talent to compete

OU fans are going to have a very rough time of it once they leave the relative safety of the Lil 12 for the (presumably) SEC West. The therapy business will be "booming", up there.

Talk about tossing a big, dominant, well-fed goldfish into a shark tank.....

Riley may not come to LSU but there isn’t a single Louisiana HS recruit who didnt know who Riley was before this and does know who he is now.
