I guess they saw how wildly successful Denver's offense was with Tebow and decided the spread option was here to stay.

This probably will end up being a failure...but...

Going from New Hampshire OC to Tampa Bay Head Coach in like 5 years is pretty damn impressive...

Chip Kelly is reportedly "close" to being the next Buccaneers coach.
By Will Brinson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching search has been quiet the last few days but on Sunday night a potentially earth-shaking report emerged that has Oregon Ducks coach Chip Kelly leaving his gig in Eugene to take a job with the Bucs.

That report comes from KGW Sports' Michael Berk who says that Kelly is "working to finalize a deal that would make him head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs."

Berk adds that Kelly will "make the jump" if he can "come to terms on a contract," so let's hold the horses on assuming that this is a done deal, at least for now.

Kelly became the offensive coordinator for Oregon in 2007 and served in that position until head coach Mike Bellotti became the school's athletic director and Kelly took over as head coach.

He's won the PAC-10 Coach of the Year award twice and made a BCS bowl the past two seasons, in large part thanks to his high-powered spread offense that's piled up points for the Ducks since he came to Eugene.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chip's agent leaked this to then rob Phil Knight blind

Also is there any doubt now that Lane Kiffin was born with a horseshoe up his arse. If Oregon fricks up their hire the Pac-12 returns to SC and the dwarves.

PORTLAND -- University of Oregon football coach Chip Kelly is close to signing a deal with the NFL, a source says. Kelly is reportedly in the process of finalizing a deal that would make him the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A source close to the situation told KGW Kelly will make the jump to the NFL if he can come to terms on a contract. Kelly has been Oregon's head coach for three years, winning the conference title in all three, reaching three straight BCS games. The crowning achievement coming three weeks ago, when the Ducks won their first Rose Bowl game in 95 years.

With this and Tosh Lupoi leaving I'm sure USC wishes they had a full 25 to give out this year.

seems knight could match any offer, so if this true, id wager to guess sanctions are on the horizon.

There's nobody in Oregon's class right now I'd really want. Only guy SC doesn't have a real shot at that I'd want to bring in on the West Coast is Shaq Thompson

The biggest issue that doesn't involve the offensive style would be his connections for a possible staff, especially considering he's got ZERO nfl experience. When Saban left for Miami, he at least had some guys he knew from his time in Cleveland. Same with Harbaugh in SF Carroll in Seattle and Petrino in Atlanta.

I really think the Bucs would be stupid if this were to be true.
