That is what is so gut wrenching about all this. When I watched the replay last night I saw a lot that I didn't see at the game. I saw guys that were clearly in pain (Dorsey, Steltz, Flynn...) and in that last OT looked like they could barely move and kept on trying. The looks on their faces close up was excrutiating to watch. I don't think I can ever watch the end of that game again, just too heartbreaking. And there are the coaches on the sidelines with visions of Michigan and Nebraska dancing in their heads.

I hope whichever coaches want to leave just hurry up and leave.

Now perhaps he is lying. Perhaps he is saying what he knows he has to say. BUt perhaps he is right on the money

It might shock people but Coaches play with distractions all the time. THey COach when going through Divorces. THey Coach when their children are ill. They COach while their parents are dying. They Coach when they are sick. They Coach when they are depressed. They Coach when their whole day and the night before was trying to impress 17 year old kids to come to the school next year . However when you get to this level you learn to compartmentalize. If you don't you go insane.

So if there were distractions that will come out. But the LSU fan base does little to help the team of creating a public issue of something and thus DISTRACTING THE TEAM from this Saturday if there is nothing too it

There is a sign in the LSU locker room that says "Is LSU using you? Get even... Graduate"
This may not be the exact wording but that is the message.

this is exactly right, and I haven't really harped on this lately, but it was the reason I started posting on the Rant. LSU should be so far and above playing the victim. It's sad, pathetic, and embarassing.

Holy crap. I agree with SFP. I need to head to the doctor now, but not before I post this:

Our defense has been a shell of itself since early this year. We lost Charles Alexander for the season, and most of our defensive players have either sat for a while or played hurt for a while. Anyone who honestly believes that Pelini didn't blitz on 4th and 10 in overtime because he was thinking about Husker nation is fooling themselves. We stopped being an aggressive blitz team several weeks ago, we don't have good cover guys in the secondary, and we have allowed QB's to just pick us apart. Note what happened in the first 2 games of 2005 -- they look eerily similar to the last several games of 2007. Close wins/losses where our offense does fine, our defense looks like garbage. No explanation to me for the shift in philosophy other than the injuries, or lack of confidence in the cover guys. I don't think we have the depth at LB and DB that people think, and if I remember right this was a concern before the season -- depth at LB, OL and DB. We just aren't that great in those areas behind our top guys.

Pelini is a good defensive coach. He is not the best, not the worst, and I think he'll do OK as a head guy somewhere. His scheming cost us a few games this year, whether the injuries played into that or not. The only way to beat the quick-pass, spread option is to ATTACK. We didn't or don't, we get scored on. That is simple.
