I keep hearing and seeing folks saying that he's this great coach but he's a terrible GM. I take issue with that. Mainly because as a college football head coach, you are essentially the program's GM as well.

You make all the personnel decisions, you make all the decisions on who to recruit, who to process, which transfer to go after, which coaches to pursue, etc.

So yes, O'Brien may be a great coach, but it's not like GM type duties are foreign to a CFB head coach.

Another issue is that his players hated him

Riding a cup of coffee with Tom
Brady.

Not a BOB fan, but it's much easier to do that at the NCAA level, than NFL. I mean, with contracts/salary cap being, probably, the biggest challenges in that space...they are also two massive things no NCAA HC has to worry about.

I mean, yeah that's an obvious difference. But salary or not, he has made a multitude of poor personnel decisions.

BOB would be an absolutely terrible hire for LSU. You want to talk about the worst opposite fit ever? BOB is it...especially with LSU's current player culture problem they have. He'd lose the team in the first week at the university.

Based on this board he is not qualified to be the head coach of LSU.

Yeah, he would not be able to function in Baton Rouge.
