I'm a little concerned that some of our fan base might be getting a bit of a false sense of security in thinking that we seem to be doing ok with Petrino gone and have survived relatively unscathed, when in fact the repercussions of his firing have not even reached the program yet. We just see the mushroom cloud in the distance and say to ourselves, wow that's pretty.
Most all of our valuable assistant coaches are Petrino hires. All of our players are Petrino recruits, including the most recent class that Velcamp already says is the best we've had since he's been there.
When JLS was arranging to bring over the fired DC fm Washington this week, that should have been a cold slap of reality for some of us, at least the edge of the dust cloud as it rushes towards us. Certainly caused some 90's flashbacks for me.
Besides CBP coming back, (which is unlikely) we are really going to need to hit a home run with this next hire (i.e. purpose of this thread I guess)
I think most people are just trying to make the most of the mess we are left with. We have good players and a decent staff, and should support them. I am very much concerned about the future, but I want to enjoy this season before I get too worked up.

Man, me too. That's one of the reasons I hope he goes to UT and possibly have an ATL FYMF bowl one year. That would be must-see TV.

Charlie Strong looks to have Louisville recruiting making big strides. They just got a Clemson WR transfer that's immediately eligible.

Strong would be an awesome recruiter for us, but I would rather get an offensive minded HC and keep the D staff intact b/c I really think Haynes/Taver/Peoples are the best recruiters we've had in a long time

Do not think all 3 will stay after this year, especially if someone from outside is brought in. I think that Fitz from Northwestern is good choice. But a NFL guy if available will and should get first crack at interview.

Fitz isn't leaving his self proclaimed dream job at his alma mater for Arkansas.

What do yall think about bringing Dowell Logains back to the Hill as OC? I didn't realize dudes been the Titans QB coach for 3 years. Used to sit by that guy in class. Obviously I've achieved much greater success in life than him to this point. I mean who wants to be a QB coach in the NFL at 29 when you can post 8000x's on TD
eta: Jeff Long just rolled up in this bitch. Gonna set my laptop on his table with this thread open

Tell him to acknowledge my awesome head coaching candidates that I've tweeted him.

bring Petrino back
To err is human. To forgive is tBeacon.
Honestly, I'd be very pleased with Strong. Also, if my experiences with Dowell back in the day (:nohomo:) are any indication, he'd be a great recruiter - fun guy.

Not really but I should've. I should have him take a look at some of CrowPie's charts as well while I'm at it

I would seriously die laughing. Especially if he tweeted about them.

You should. There's never a bad time for charts and graphs.

They will not bring BP back and Long will hire some Slug worse than Nutt.

You have zero evidence of that. Jeff Long's two major hires at Arkansas: Bobby Petrino and Mike Anderson

MA like BP fell in his lap. He hired Gilligan as our head coach even if is for 10 months. He wanted or was in the process of hiring Tommy Bowden and Jim Grobe (who I was ok with).
What makes you think he will hire a great coach this time?
