So
Obviously States next coach isn’t Judge.

While some State fans seem to think Napier is still the guy. Here is what he isn’t.

Tweet from Ian Rapoport
“Joe Judge has an offer to become the new coach at Mississippi State, his alma matter. He takes the Giants instead.“

Judge would not have had an offer from State if Napier was the guy. So obvious it isn’t Napier either. Is Grantham going to be what they muster up?

I feel bad for any team that thinks it’s a good idea to put fricking Grantham in charge of a SEC school. Dude is a nut job and would be a failure.

I don’t even think they think it’s a good idea. But what other options do they have.

I will be even more apathetic if Grantham is hired. I would rather hire Hud.

What’s the issue with Hud? Seems like he was the hot name for State couple years ago. Now when he is mentioned in State boards it’s like an instant “no chance no way. Ship sailed will never in a million years happen now”.

Everyone cites the NCAA trouble and his record the last 3 years at ULaLa. He was cleared from any wrong doing and it’s hard to win with the NCAA on your back as Ole Miss can attest, but State people can’t get past it. He was my 3rd choice behind Napier and Judge on a list of people I thought we could pull.

I think he's a decent fall back candidate for sure. He has the potential to keep the program bowl eligible most years at the very least. Cohen making the call when he did, obviously put State in a tough spot.

Should have hired Grantham two years ago to continue what Mullen built. Short term play but the past two seasons would have been much better.

Rumor is that Cohen wanted to pull the plug in November and Keenum got the warm fuzzies after the EB and called it off. Once Gay broke Shrader's face, players didn't show to bowl practice, and Moorhead lost to Louisville, Keenum gave the green light.

Just saying ULL 24/7 board is still saying not to sleep on State. If it is not him or he decided to go to Baylor than I think we need to start fresh and see about some other candidates. Most of the list we interviewed was garbage. The list after Napier and Judge was shite.

With that said there are still a ton of good coaches out there better than Todd Fing Grantham that I think would give us a look.

I still have a little hope for Napier, but I honestly don't think he wants to come. If Baylor doesn't hire him (which I don't think they will) then his options are to come to State this year for probably ~$4MM or take a risk and wait for another job next year like South Carolina.

I just will be surprised if its Napier because of Judge actually having an offer. Unless they come back to Napier and say "what will it take" and they do whatever he asks i guess.

I see a path for Napier if Baylor turns him down. But due to him wanting to return to South Carolina, if Baylor is a no, he may hold out another year for USC.

But in his mind, he has to know it could be now or a long time if his stock drops.

So there is a slight chance.

Ironically, Hud’s NCAA issues were due to David Saunder’s ACT testing scheme that he developed while at Ole Miss

HUD would probably do very well at State tbh . He would most likely do very well in recruiting . He would need to have good assistants though
