Meh, it really made no difference when O was fired because everyone (including recruits) knew it was coming anyway.

I'd argue that doing it the way they did actually HELPS in recruiting, as those recruits now know that LSU will bring in a new and exciting coach instead of knowing that Orgeron's future is limited at best.

Put yourself in a recruits' shoes, would you be more interested in LSU if O was still the coach and you knew his future was teetering on a razorblade and the team has looked like shite under him? Or would you be more excited by the prospect of a new, young, smart, and energetic coach taking over the talent that's already there - your future teammates?

LSU under Orgeron is dead in the water looking undisciplined and sloppy, and that hurts recruiting more than anything else. These guys want to go to the NFL, and it's looking like O has no idea how to prepare a team himself. You actually have SOME hope of retaining those bigtime recruits if you promise to hire a bigtime coach that can teach them and prepare them for the NFL.

This topic about "not buying the BS on this board" would be better served discussing the unrealistic candidates that some here think might come. Riley, Dabo, Saban, Jimbo, Tomlin, etc. aren't realistic but their names keep getting floated

Sometimes I see posts like this and wonder how the poster made it alive to the age where they're to type full sentences on a message board. Like is there no intelligence minimum for staying alive?

And your just another wannabe insider arse.

General concensus is that Woodward started shopping after the UCLA game. That's more than enough time to put together a package for Riley or equal to accept.

Others put Woodward on a pedestal , I'd rather take a wait and see approach before I crown him.

Dude, remember just because Woodward “puts together a package” doesn’t mean they have to accept it.
It doesn’t mean Woodward failed. He’s going to get the best guy who wants the job.
Trust that he’s working harder than Alleva ever did, and won’t be persuaded like Alleva.

But, according to the rant this is brilliant.

There are several good reasons for doing it the way he did if you think about it.

The real reason that O was allowed to stay and keep his money is because he knows where all the bodies are buried. He’s also involved with the Title 9 stuff, so if he was done “wrong” by LSU, why would he testify in LSU’s favor?

Well, LSU has burned coaches before by telling them Miles was fired, then he wasn't. Now coaches know our governor isn't going to interfere with the hiring.

I don't have anything against Woody, I'm just reserving judgment.

Woodward was signed to a 7.5 million dollar salary plus incentives.

That kind of money should mean that he has the ability to sell and to get the top coaches and move all of LSU sports forward.

I don’t get the Woody love either. It’s easy to be a wizard when you’re throwing away good money.

By allowing O to stick around, somehow even more damage has been done

Woodward is far from brilliant. And if he hires Jimbo he should get canned when Jimbo does. 80% of this board worships him for signing Jimbo to a terrible contract and for giving Orgeron a raise for no reason. Makes zero sense. I hope he hits a home run with this hire but I won’t hold my breath

Its a shite show.

It is. Considering what O has done to the program, it’s a shite show with or without him at this point.

LSU fans have to be some of the most fickle and bitchy fans in the country

We're already at the "Woodward was never that great anyway" stage and he hasn't even hired a coach, and it's still in the middle of the season

Don't be dumb. He signed for 6 years at 7.5 million.

Just saying that he is not a Savant like some portray him.

It's guaranteed money, so it's 7.5 million wether it is 6 years or not.
