TBob is flat out wrong. They haven’t chosen Ensminger yet. Yes he’s very much in the mix but LSU is weighing options and vetting.

I think Spavital would be a bit polarizing. Not necessarily a good or bad hire. I think his career to this point is a mixed bag, but he's come from a coaching tree of brilliant offensive minds, so there's at least the potential for a high ceiling.
His work with QBs is a serious positive though.

Because if they can’t get a big name, they want a backup plan. It’s a new concept for LSU.
I think the plan would be Co-OC with Ensminger and some young guy who’s not ready yet to handle everything, and have him call plays.

Alleva negotiates unsuccessfully w/ Herman, Fisher, then throws up his hands and settles for Orgeron, then has some weaksauce press conference defensively explaining O was his choice all along.
Then, as in now, what is the rush? Hard for me to believe that LSU can't hire a good OC not named Steve Ensminger, if they really try.
