Hell. YES.
I'm glad he's staying. He raises the competition bar for the SEC as a whole and he is a, i'll prob piss a lot of bammer sidewalkers off here, better coach than "he who shall not be named" (Voldebear)

Anywhom.. At this rate it looks like AU will go to the title game every 3rd year while bama goes the 2 years in between. I'm ok with that. Gotta lotta time to make up for.

State of Alabama college football > State of Tx college football

Congrats. Hell of a coach. Wish he was ours.
Hell no, keep him the hell away from here.

Appreciate what he did for us while he was here and while he is a great coach he also represents EVERYTHING that is wrong with college sports.

It really seems appropriate for him to wear the scarlet letter.

Outcoached in the Iron Bowl, gets pay raise. Saban just played bama like a ho.

He got a 2 million dollar raise for winning 11 games. Most coaches who win that many games get raises.

I have a feeling if he was the coach of your team you wouldn't care what he was paid.

Just a hunch.

Jeebus!

For the 100th time...

LSU upped Les' contract after an 8-4 season and a loss in the chicken bowl, a loss directly due to Les' awesome late game clock management skills. But get this...LSU upped the contract because they were skeered of Arkansas' overtures to Les.

Because we all know that John MFin' Smith left a gold mine of talent in the Ozarks and Les was intrigued.

the fact that he got a 2M dollar raise after just signing a new extension is all you need to know

He signed a new extension in March 2012. Since that extension, he won another SEC championship, National Championship and 20+ games.

Everyone is confused on the previous extension - it was not in March 2013.

you mean 10-3?

because that's what LSU did last year

I'm sorry...I don't follow LSU with the same fervor that LSU folks follow Bama.

EDIT: LSU upped Les' contract after a spectacular 10-3 season which included a heartbreaking loss to a dipshit ACC team in the chicken bowl...and because LSU apparently had a realistic fear that Les would be drawn to a team that LSU ridicules as incompetent.

Is that better and more accurate? Unlike most of your posts this week?

Sexton called Mal Moore the Monday after the Bama-Tennessee game and told him Saban wanted to get back into college coaching and was interested in Bama, Saban wanted to wait until the NFL season was over to finalize though. Bama bigs were afraid they couldn't land Saban and didn't want to wait that long to find out so they offered RichRod, who probably would have taken the job had Finebaum not roasted RichRod's wife on the air the day he was set to accept.

"I guess I have to say it," Saban said. "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach."

That statement was made on December 21, 2006. At that point, Saban and Bama hadn't had any contact yet. Texas has at the very least attempted to make contact with Saban more than once over the last year.

Well, at the time Saban made his most recent statements, Friday night, Texas didn't have a job opening. So, does that make a difference?

He told them he was sure Saban missed college, but they would have to wait until January to talk to him.

While we will never know for sure now that Mal has died, it was widely speculated that he wanted to wait for Saban, the BOT didn't want to wait. They insisted he go after Rich Rod. He did, but supposedly low balled him knowing he would ultimately turn it down. When he did turn it down Mal was able to go to the BOT and tell them he was doing it his way now and waiting for Saban.
