Landry said he knows Kragthorpe personally and as a coach and this guy is not a Yes Man.
He said Kragthorpe will run the offense, and will have a lot of input in the meetings and is a in your face type of coach who will let the players know who is running show, especially when they need correcting, and he will also give them tough love when they need it.
He also said this guy is a very good coach, and if he feels like he is not able to do his job his way, that he would move on.
I don't know much about Kragthorpe, but i believe in given a person a chance before attacking him or ridicuring him before he has ever coach a down at LSU.
Sometimes a guy just need to find the right fit, i remember how Auburn head coach got bashed when he was hired at Auburn and we know how that has played out.

we'll see that how that continues to play out. he's hired good assistants and players, err....recruited good players....
we'll see what happens when you remove the two best college football players in the nation from his team. unfortunately for him the nfl pays more than auburn boosters

I think it is time to get behind Kragthorpe and hope he does a great job at LSU. No candidate was a perfect match.

When Chris Landry says something critical of Miles the positigers crucify him. When he says something they agree with then he is a reputable source. Landry knows more about coaching and football than 100% of the positigers who hate his guts when he disagrees with them. Landry also said that some coaches would look at the LSU job and not consider the right fit for them because Les Miles would not give the new OC autonomy. Was he contradicting himself? The point is we have to wait and see when the bullets are flying what Miles will do. Hopefully they work better together than Crowton and Miles. It can't get worse, but it could also stay the same.

Read somewhwere that Landry was assisting in the coaching search. Would be hared to bad mouth the guy after you helped hire him.

Guys i read all of the boards and listen to the different talk shows, and i have my own opinion about Miles and LSU, and i don't get into all the different name calling and other petty stuff that is written.
I was only stating what i heard, because i thought some poster would be interested.
I have a pass to attend practice and i see and hear some things, but i don't post often because most people want to believe what they want to believe and nothing really changes their mind.
I will say this my son played and was a 3 year starter for the Tigers, and Les Miles is liked and respected by most of the players and formal players his and they trust his opinions and decisions.

If Chris landry said it then it's true. He runs a coaching service that matches colleges with potential coaches. He has more coaching experience than any coach on our staff. He coached with saban and belicheck and many many others. If it comes out of Chris Landrys mouth and relates to football take it like it were the wor of god

The OP could be interpreted to mean that Kragthorpe can be stubborn and inflexible. I sure hope that is not the case. Right now, all we can do is speculate, but of course that is all we fans do anyway.

i remember when he argued for hours every day the summer before the 2003 season about how Auburn was so much better and more talented than LSU.

I'm beginning to warm up to this choice.
Lack of offensive identity and QB play were our Achilles Heel last year. If Krags can improve those 2 issues, we will be much improved.
