Currently, it looks like the candidates are:
Malzahn (Auburn OC)
Monken (Jaguars WRC)
Applewhite (Texas RBC)
Dykes (Arizona OC)

no offense, but I'm going to say that at least half of that group has ZERO interest in being the La Tech head coach. You guys were lucky to get Dooley when you did. I don't see that happening again.

BTW, don't you think that the football coach is going to want to know who he's going to be working for before he signs on?

Tech promoted the Deputy Athletic Director, Bruce Van De Velde, to Acting Athletic Director on Friday.

Didn't Monken want the job when Dooley was hired.

I think so, at least I've heard as much.

I can really see Malzahn or Bowden, actually.

The two are synonymous, unless they plan on permanently keeping him in that spot.

you guys are kidding yourselves. Bowden's got N Alabama rolling - why would he go to Tech of all places in the hopes of attaining a 7-5 year?

Malhzahn is OC at a Top 20 school that would pay more than Tech gave to their HC/AD. He's not going to Tech.

You guys better hope Applewhite or Crowton is interested.

I think Dooley made about $400K, but only b/c he was the AD too. Terry may come, but I would think he might wait it out for a better opportunity.

Yeah, "mytigger" doesn't know what he's talking about. Tech's got the money and will get who we want.

USC, Tenn, and every AD looks to get a bigger name and then work themselves back to reality. Rocco from Liberty would be a good fit for Tech. Maybe some agent can figure that out. Do look at the religion, but don't tell anyone. Right?

Yeah, Matt Viator is terrible and shouldn't be offered or even considered. Terrible coach. Terrible. Let everyone go ahead and leave him alone.

TIA

Dooley made 500k, of which 50k went to the AD position (which he was nothing more than a face and speaker. Someone else did the day to day work)

Don't worry about Dooley's old salary. That was not the salary ceiling at Tech, and certainly isn't now. The man hadn't earned more than that at the time, frankly. He would've had a nice raise if he'd have stayed this year and won some freakin' games, but 3 FBS wins in a season gets you nothing.

Yep, He is trying to make a comeback. His agent has his name out there. He could do it football wise, but could he make it in Ruston???
