But they have 6 titles? I was assured past national titles were the number one factor in a job rank?

News flash: Ole Miss settled on Matt Luke. I don't know who Tenn is going to hire, but I'd bet he's better than Matt Luke. And why did you settle for Matt Luke? B/c Ole Miss is not a job anyone wants at this point.

I bet Peyton Manning would make a great AD there. He probably wouldn't want to deal with all the crap that goes with that though.

So he'd be a shitty AD, then?

How they handled the Schiano situation by listening to the fan base and letting them control the hiring, no big name coach in their right mind would deal with that shite!

Tennessee's not about to get their balls chopped off by the NCAA, either.

What's THEIR excuse?

Why would any current head coach want a job now where they are the 6th choice or lower at this point? Pride at some point would set in unless you are a coordinator ready to be a head coach.

I'd take that job, but I'm ridiculously unqualified for it.

What? Tennessee's fans may not be loud, but they are extremely, nice, amost Canadian-esque.

Also, Knoxville is a really nice town, and UT has far better amenities than Nebraska.

With that being said, the comparisons regarding a loss of national prominence paired with a lack of in-state recruiting base making a true "comeback" extremely unlikely makes for a favorable comparison.

That’s what I meant both have great traditions but are screwed as far as recruiting is concerned. Both must recruit nationally to compete.
