What are you, 12?

Elite recruits are 14-15 years old when the big schools start recruiting them.

Put yourself in the shoes of Nebraska fans: Nobody wants to settle for top 25 finishes without championships, especially when the team has been super successful in the past. It's pointless.

They won't see anything like those mid-'90s teams again, but they absolutely can win championships in a conference like the Big 10. Recruiting is their only issue--and it's a major one--but other programs have proven that it's one that can be overcome. They have the money to hire top notch recruiters.

Bo had almost a decade to win something. He didn't, and he came off as a huge douche in the process. It was time for a change.

Hasnt Nebraska been through this before? They should know 9-3 is good enough for them these days.

Those 3 losses are all to the only ranked teams they played though. 9-3 doesn't look bad until you realize that part of it. Top that off with the near loss to McNeese and the record really starts to look like shite.

Michigan has Ohio, Pennsylvania and in state recruits. Notre Dame can push the education and also has great access to Ohio and other states in Catholic regions where there are tons of ND fans. Oregon has California and the coolness of being a Nike factory. Lincoln and NU offer literally nothing to a California, Florida, Ohio or Texas recruit that in state schools can't offer.

Yup Nebraska is just a no hope program that could never be good.

All Americans like Tommie Frazier(Florida), Lawrence Phillips(California) and Aaron Taylor(Texas) would never go there.

the big10 is basically Ohio State in terms of national title contention

With good coaching hires and good recruiting, Penn state and Michigan can be in national title contention too.

Why would anyone who fits the above criteria come to Nebraska after you just fired a guy who had 9 or 10 wins every season? Tressel would certainly take the job but I don't see him being a great recruiter for Nebraska.

I don't think kids from southern Ohio choose to go to East Lansing because of proximity. Wisconsin certainly isn't surrounded by recruiting hotbeds, and it has been a very good program for more than a decade.

They've done a good job recruiting Louisiana, Texas, and Ohio in recent years, but that was mainly due to Pelini's ties.

You like Jim Tressel? I can't get past him and his long history of causing trouble as he leaves.

All of that is fluff. If they get an ace salesman with assistants who don't have their heads up their asses and can recruit, they'll be able to get good players. There is no reason that program should be losing to teams like Minnesota and Iowa

I wouldn't mind if they lose a few games a season. What stings with Bo is how when he loses, it is a complete meltdown where they opposing team racks up 50+ points.

Wisconsin stole NU old recruiting base, New Jersey. Do you know how that happened?

I think most coaches who are in the know realize the true problems that existed during Pelini's tenure, and see through the shallow and meaningless 9-win seasons.

I like Tressel. He's an established winner with a national championship on his resume. He'd be a slam-dunk if Nebraska could land him; my only concern is his age. Honestly I think they'll end up with McElwain, and I don't think he'll have much success.

I think that all of their wins this season are against 5+ loss teams.

Thats kinda pathetic.

Not according to 247.

But consider your source. One time in at least 5 years with all that Nike money doesn't exactly wow me.
