Man, we felt spurned just when Oklahoma’s coach left for another school.

What did LSU fans do when Saban left?

Not even the same, he left for the NFL not another premier college job. I seem to remember most were upset about him leaving, and there were certainly sky screamers as there always are, but most rational folks hoped to see him succeed at the next level. It wasn’t until he came back to Bama the real vitriol started

Do you blame them? I can only imagine the melt when Saban left for the Dolphins. Not to mention a couple years later when he went to Bama.

I'd be pissed if I were a ND fan too. I'm sure they thought he was safe. At least until the playoff picture shakes out anyways. But he dipped out in the middle of the playoff hunt. Lol anyone without bias can say it was a pretty sleazy move on Kelly's part.

And he better be flying coach on his red eye.

Not sure I understand this one. Do they think Notre Dame is flying him to baton rouge first class?

Do they realize he makes millions a year and can afford to not fly coach… even if he wasnt being flown down in a private jet (I assume we’re flying him down)

Honestly this is a pretty risky move for Kelly in terms of legacy. If he doesn’t do well here he will also be hated by LSU fans.

Meh. He will have millions of reasons not to care.

Honestly I don’t disagree with the indignation (to put it lightly) especially the point about him coming to LSU right when they’re in the mix for a playoff spot.

It sucks, but the finger should be pointed at the system, not the coach IMO.

ND has an outside shot, at best, of getting into the playoffs. But Kelly has to decide on giving up a dream scenario for $100mil for the "outside chance" of making the playoffs? That's a shitty spot to put him in, and I can't blame him for taking the job over the outside chance.

They could be announced to the playoff in a few days. And honestly this hurts their chances for that. The committee has to consider it when ranking them.

Saving them from an arse whipping.

Wasn't around here back then.
Was it really worse than the nearly (did it actually make it to?) 3,000 downvotes for:

We'd melt too and honestly, it's kind of a dick move. It's less Kelly but more what NCAA ball is now. The timing was bad and he had no choice but to leave now.

For sure. For the record I'm happy with the hire and I wasn't saying he did anything wrong, I just understand the frustration of their fan base.
