I was thinking about this watching the ULL/Ark St game.
ULL has a good coach they know is on his way out eventually and Ark St has a coach that was once a exciting new name for a big time program. They have to be ecstatic when they have coaches like that at a program of their caliber.
Even lower tier P5 schools are happy to hire a coordinator from a successful Head Coaching Tree and hope they can produce.
Meanwhile, LSU (and other upper tier schools) want someone who is already at a P5 school with a +.750 record, had at least 10 wins in his first season and no off the field baggage, but then make jokes when a team goes 7-5 after paying a coach 7-9MM per year.

What about Fickell and Kendal Briles as OC, shouldn’t be too hard to get Briles from Arkansas but Fickell would be though

I actually don’t lol. It was a simple typo. He also didn’t call defense last year Freeman did. Not sure what the dynamic with Tressel is this year and how hands on or off Fickell is with it. Fickell is obviously of a defensive background.

Elko won't leave for another DC gig, doesn't matter the school or the salary. He's been waiting for a decent HC job and he'll probably get one this year or the next.
