I'm an outsider. It may be easier for me to be more objective and less emotional, but it doesn't mean I'm right.

So, here is my inerpretation of the letter:

He said nothing of substance about the next coach. No matter who he hires, that person will fit that description. He uses "coachspeak" very well.

But, his comment on "Happy Thanksgiving" is an indicatior that we all know anyway.

1. He's not gonna say anything publicly until after Thanksgiving.

2. He will say something very shortly after Thanksgiving.

I think his statement is clear evidence he has his guy and the two of them have agreed to the timing of the announcement. (I'm guessing the Monday after Thanksgiving.)

I still put the chances at about 85% it is Jimbo, but that is just my speculation. I know less than Paul Finebaum's barber.

I think he said happy thanksgiving because he's a public official addressing the public and it's what every adult on the planet does

More likely the OP nailed it in that this will be his last public address until after thanksgiving. No one would say happy thanksgiving to their public if they knew they'd be speaking to that same public before thanksgiving. It's just silly.

Please elaborate?? I have eyes but don't see anything yet.. I'm leaning that way but I'm curious as to why you think that?

I will say this, if a decision/agreement has been made I'd think it cannot be O. There are 2 games to play against teams you could reasonably lose to.

You don't offer him the job until those are in the books.

thanks man, you're probably correct.

if you hang on an LSU board long enough you will learn that certain things are very important to some fans and they dissect every word from press conferences, coaching shows, letters from the AD, etc, etc. and try to "read between the lines". it actually was hilarious when Miles was our coach because he threw some weird statements out there. these fans are extremely susceptible to misinformation and their interpretations are all over the place. it's the nature of the beast when you have an extremely passionate fan base.

Or you make the announcement now to take the next two games out of the equation.

I've made it a hobby for about 20 years to follow the coaching carousel. I've learned that fans of all schools are alike. (Except for gators. They are all jerks. )

I enjoy reading what others say about coaching vacancies. I've also learned two things, which I may have to put into practice very soon.

1. There are plenty of good coaches out there.
2. All hires are a gamble; some work out, some don't. But, you don't know for a couple of years.

He is flat out describing Coach O to a T.

The real question is why?

Is it to pump confidence into O so he doesn't phone it in for the last two games while Jimbo is secretly a Done Deal?

Are negotiations with Jimbo getting tough and FSU upping the ante and Alleva wants to prepare the public in the event that the Jimbo deal is not done and O is plan B?

To me it still looks like it's Jimbo or O but that maybe Jimbo isn't such the Done Deal that everyone was cheering about the last couple of days.

Unfortunately his letter doesn't seem to mention any traits about a certain genius in Houston. After last nights performance and Texas balking on him for his DUIs it was really looking like we might have had a legit shot at Herman and Applewhite.

Happy Thanksgiving
it's obvious that it's going to be Tom Herman

Happy Thanksgiving = HT = Herman, Tom

HT Backwards is TH = Tom Herman

the 2 first letters in Thanksgiving is TH = Tom Herman

Joe thought he's slick, but we just Imitation Gamed his arse.
