Good news. It weakens State and makes the West easier

Um not for lsu, makes it a harder road, since we play Florida every year. Would have much rather him at tenn.

Mullen def isn't a bad hire. But I personally think as an lsu fan it worked out great for us

I am personally ecstatic. State got a lot worse and Florida didn't get an elite coach which would make them Bama esque.

I think he will turn out 9-3 like schedules, because I don't think he will out recruit Richt and Jimbo

He was winning 8-9 games with 3 stars and a few 4 stars at State.

What do you think he'll do with all that Florida talent?

What is the material difference between Mac and Mullen?

Both won natties as OCs and won marginal at schools that don't normally win

Winning at MSU is more impressive than winning at CSU.

Mullen is a better offensive mind with a LONG history of developing quarterbacks. Mullen also won in the SEC West at the historical worst program over the span of a decade

Mac won for a few years at Colorado State

Dan won at an SEC school and didn’t ride one qb to success. This is lazy.

Buttertooth is an aberration. FU is usually going to be good anyway.

This makes it less likely that State is good, so we come out ahead compared to FU getting a good coach elsewhere.

Mullen is an elite coach as far as I'm concerned, and we have to play UF every year. He coached MsST to the #1 ranking with 2-3* players. Now he has athletes.

It will be interesting to see if Mullen changes his recruiting philosophy at UF. Whatever anyone wants to say about State’s place in the football world and Starkville, he had enough time and success to improve recruiting there beyond their typical ranking. Not pushing that and sticking with mining for diamonds and coaching them up becomes a conscious choice after several years. Whatever the reasons, it did work very well for him at State.

I’m not necessarily advocating one style over another. Whatever works. I will just be interested to see how he adapts to a bigger program where there will be more pressure to deliver more 4 and 5 star guys.

That’s not automatic. McElwain wasn’t a dominant recruiter there, even after winning the East. It will take work and the right staff, and Mullen has never shown interest in being a star hunter. We shall see.

most gator fans are barely functioning retards when it comes to football. they want 22" rims and don't care if it's on an 1980 chevette.

Seeing that now. I could swear I remember it being he was fired when the news came out a decade ago. Maybe it was one of those you better look for a job type deals?

So how quickly does Miss State return to the cellar? Immediately?
