Update: LINK

quote:

BREAKING Jim Mora will the remain the head coach at #UCLA, source told CBS. #Washington

---------------------------------------------
quote:

He was in good spirits, but he did not want to discuss the Washington Huskies opening, offering this politely when asked if he could comment on his status at UCLA and the Huskies opening amid speculation that he's coming or going, "I'm sorry, I can't. I really can't."

Also, 710 ESPN out of LA is reporting that Mora gave the AD 24 hours to respond to better facilities and assistants pay levels, or he takes the UW job.

Rumors also say that an offer is on the table to double his salary.
quote:

Sources tell me Washington offered to double Jim Mora’s current salary if he accepts position to coach the Huskies.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The UCLA folks are almost positive that he's staying and the UW folks are optimistic that he's coming. Hopefully we will find out this week either way.

Does UCLA still pay peanuts for football head coaches? Rick N was getting paid sh*t there (not that he deserved more). I can't recall if the Pac12 TV money allowed them to open it up a bit for Mora Jr.

Mora Jr. is damn good - are you concerned he'll bolt for the NFL at some point?

Mora Jr

I think he's done in NFL as a Head Coach. I honestly don't think he likes the gig, and appreciates coaching CFB much more.

I could be reading him wrong, but that was the vibe i got from him

with the way big time programs are paying these days, you know some current NFL coaches are going to start looking around. Money's not much less, less prima donna players (marginally at some programs), way more time off.

He's just above $2 million I think.

No. If he comes to UW, he wouldn't leave for another job unless something out of the ordinary happens.

I looked back and Rick's salary about the time he was let go was 1.4 million. So they stepped it up a bit but hard to compete with USC and Oregon in that conference.

not really when you factor in recruiting and no pension like in the NFL but i agree in that more coaches will look at college as an option.

Damn. Don't know if I would trust the UCLA AD. Rick N blasted the AD when he was fired. UW seems to be making the right moves so far.
