Miles on DC Search

I wonder why Miles is even going through the interview process. He should just come on this board and he can be educated on the pros and cons of all the candidates.
Also just curious, but why do we need an emotional charged DC? There are plenty coaches that don't have to act like idiots to coach. I would rather someone teach proper fundamentals and calls plays where the players can make plays. I don't think just because a coach is freaking out on the side it will produce good results. I could really care less if a coach is in your face on the sidelines. I just want results.

It's mob mentality mostly
One ranter says we need a guy who jumps around and screams, someone agrees and it snowballs from there.
Same with the names that are brought up like Dick Bumpas and Tenuta. Tenuta's way overrated here (calling him the best DC in the country? I don't think so)

I like seeing them win. I really don't care if a coach is chest bumping or picking is arse. If we are winning I am smiling. I think there might be a coach at the New England Patriots who does not chest bump. In fact sometimes I wonder if he is awake on the sidelines. And those press conferences are, well let's just say a Red Bull would do him some good. Bottom line, his results don't lie.

We need a coach who is disciplined and demands his players are disciplined on and off the field. This was apparent by the loss of disclipline at the end of the season. If they scream or yell I could care less. They just need to instill discipline and self control. There are coaches like this.

I'm not going to call him the best but he is one of the very best in all of College football for sure. He is highly thought of by his peers and his resume speaks for itself. He is a tough coach to prepare for and he will bring pressure from anywhere and he calls great games. He had some of the best Defense's in College Football year in and year out from 2001-2007 at North Carolina and Georgia Tech. If LSU got him our Defense would be light years next year compared to this year. He is no nonsense like Pelini and demands excellence and is anal and a stickler for doing the little things right. The best D Coord's are the one's that are just like him. Saban is just like him as an example. I would be incredibly excited if Miles was able to hire him. He would be a great addition to the staff and would help LSU get back to the Top in a hurry.

Ummm, not sure about that one boss. I don't mind the screaming, but it is not necessary. I think it makes you look like an arse.
I don't know who would be the best, but trust me there are great ones that don't freak out at the drop of a hat. That is all I am saying.

I always love these post about a good coach has to scream, blitz, be aggressive ect.
You can look at every sport and find guy's that do it with in your face/aggressive styles and you can find guy's that are calm, collective, and good teachers.
Tony dungy and lovie smith don't yell and scream. they don't blitz a lot. They are some of the very best. Bill b. is an @$$ and he's one of the best.
Lute olson in basketball was not a cussing, in your face guy and he was one of the best. Bobby Knight, total opposite.
Joe Torre, not a yelling guy, lou p. is.
you can look at the history of any sport and find guy's that have done it both ways. All you want is a guy who's effective at what they do. If that is a tampa two d thatn produces results, great. If that's press man that produces results, great.
There is not a specific style that works better than the other. From 3/4 to 4/3 to zone, to man. Just get a guy who is good at what they do.

Miles has earned the right to coach at LSU even after as horrible season. He has not earned the right to coach here without replacing DCs after that horrible season.

I agree, his recent staff decisions on the defensive side of the ball were spot-on. Why should the fan base even be concerned...

I'm pretty sure Miles realizes that this hire will determine how long he will be at LSU. This may explain why he is taking his time.

I think he is concerned also and now understands it was the incorrect choice. However, from my understanding Bo recommended these two guys. Plus I don't know everything he knew when he made his choice. It is easy to look back at what we did and find the error.
This was his first and hopefully last poor coaching choice. He made good choices with both Pelini and Crowton. Let's have a little faith in the man.
