“I’m really focused more on getting this bowl game. Playing well and winning. That’s really my focus. Certainly there’s some people we will be in contact with. It’s very preliminary at this point.”

Yep. It means that he's already chose one, wants to win the bowl game and will talk about it Jan 2nd. It's a nice way of giving the finger to the person asking the question.

lets' hope so and hope it does not mean - "we have not had a commitment from a DC yet"

Translation:

We hve a football game to play. That's what I'm focused on. That's what I want my staff and my team focused on. That's what LSU fans should be focused on. That's what you guys should be focused on. You're not helping. That's your prerogative. But don't expect me to help you distract my team.

We've got to get nycajun on the staff as Miles' personal PR guy!

I wish he would just say that.

Don't count on Miles ever having a meaningful exchange with a reporter. He's clueless on how to speak to the fanbase through the media, which is why his reputation with the fanbase sucks, even just coming off of a national championship year.

Really, I dont understand why reporters even bother to show up and ask questions. I dont think he has ever really answered one. Seems like a waste of gas money just to get there.

I felt this way until his comments before the sec champ game last year. He won me over right there.

I agree. He obviously has the capacity to be direct and to the point. The only conclusion I can draw is that the rest of the time it is intentionally vague "coachspeak". I can live with it, as long as the results on the field are there.

Ok, he's done it once in his career with LSU, big whoop.

I'd say you are absolutely wrong on that.

Miles is pretty damn calculated with the things he says and the things he doesn't say.

If he's not saying something even if there is info, you can be damned sure that he's doing it for a reason (like the obvious reason of trying to keep his team focused on the game at hand).

I think you are right. I think he is very calculated and more eloquent then he lets on to the media. I think that shows up directly in recruiting. (Also before I get flamed this second part may have just been old message board stuff or maybe it was actually him, I think it was him) If I remember right at the very begaining of his tenure fans and media were pissed about the vaqueness of the injury reports and kept pryin him thinking they had a "right" to know and that he just wasn't speaking clearly. Finally he said no matter what they did he wasn't going to give them a straight answer because its not the NFL, he is not required to give an injury report, and that if he did it would help an opponent

I agree with this statement. Why throw a bigger distraction on everything before a big game and announce it to the public. I bet the team doesn't even know. Just the brass.

Because Miles' ability to speak to the fanbase through the media is important in what way exactly?

HE'S A frickING FOOTBALL COACH.

Who gives a flying bag of donkey shite covered monkeys if he can "speak to the fanbase through the media." He doesn't have to explain everything to you people. Further, have ANY of you considered that NAMING possible candidates might JEOPARDIZE negotiations, or at least jeopardize the possible candidates' jobs they currently hold?

You all need to just shut the hell up. He said a few weeks back that no changes would be made before the bowl game. Why can't you just accept that?

Have any of you whiny bitches complaining about this ever listened to Bear Bryant's interviews? Sounded half a step better than f'ing Karl in SlingBlade but who the hell gave a shite!

STFU! If you want a polished speaker go to a Lou Holtz motivational seminar!
