and somehow Miles still have a better win % than Saban at LSU/Bama.
Helps when you take over a team 2 years removed from an NC and a year from a 9-3 season as opposed to a team coming off of a 3-8 year that came after a 4-7 season. Yeah, same exact thing.

You can keep Les at $3.75 Million/year, but he should only have 2 years equivalent guaranteed IMO. Even if you want him at 5 years each time, make at MOST the guaranteed money as half of his contract.
This scenario would never be agreed to, ever. All contracts in college sports are guaranteed with possibly a University option rollover. Most state laws prevent non-guaranteed contracts. If anything, they'll have a finite limited term with no rollover option but every major college sport has a University option rollover clause.

mafia, you are being nonsensical...the market dictates these contract terms...if other schools are willing to give coaches fat contracts, LSU needs to be able to match them. you are wasting your time with your current line of thinking...

And your point. Your salary should be based on performance, and not what you did 8 years earlier.

At least Nick never had a losing SEC record while here like Les in 2008. Oh wait, that's not Les' fault either, right?![]()
No, he gave LSU their worst loss likely ever in UAB, with a team full of NFL players.
...and wow, he reached 11 wins 1 whole time at LSU in 5 seasons.

ditto that. irrespecitve of his whacky tendencies, four of out six w/11 win seasons is something Spurrier didn't do at Fl., Meyer didn't do at Fl., and something Nick Lou has never done as well.
How many got 12 game regular seasons by the way?
Seasons Spurrier had 2 or less losses with 11 game regular season:
9 in 12 seasons.
Les has 6. Spurrier never had more than 4 losses (had 4 once). Less had 5 in 2008.

Chicken, RichRod's contract with Michigan had a buyout not entirely guaranteed. It's reasonable.
I am not saying Les shouldn't get his money, but the guaranteed money should not be his full salary. Period.
Rich Rod was owed $7.5 Million on his contract, yet the buyout for firing him was $2.5 Million. Get the point?
That was another major programs contract.

Should we compare the SEC during Spurrier to the SEC during Miles?
SEC during Spurrier: Tenn (1 NC) & Florida (1 NC) were it. Occasionally, you'd have LSU or Auburn or Bama be good.
SEC during Miles: Saban (2 NC), Miles (1 NC), Meyer (2 NC), Petrino (NFL coach), Spurrier (1 NC).
Comparing what Spurrier did at Florida is apples and oranges to what Miles/Saban/Meyer did.
Even when Saban was at LSU, he's the only one who won a NC for the SEC. Since Miles, 4 (possible 5) of the 6 years he's been the coach the SEC has won the NC.

Mafia bro you are coming off as a bit emotional and irrational
I know your severe dislike of Miles is turning into a mini-meltdown but just relax and let it play out
If he has any intention of keeping Crowton around.. I hope he takes the job

OMG he doesn't have Spurrier accomplishments.
You sound like an idiot.

Spurrier lost no more than 2 SEC games in a season at UF.
They are different eras, obviously, but just because LSU sucked in the early 90s and late 90s, doesn't make the SEC down.
The reason the SEC is getting more championships is the BCS and the fact Nebraska and FSU were major players at that time.

Are you really comparing RR's contract to Miles? Especially since RR has accomplished nothing at WV or UM. Top 5 coach gets top 5 contract. Mediocre (but hyped) coach gets mediocre contract.

I didn't bring up Spurrier, another poster did in defending Les.
I am not that emotional in all of this, I just think it's hilarious people think a man that has a contract guaranteeing him $15 Million without a division title in 3 years deserves more at this moment.
I simply think LSU should protect itself, never said cut Les' pay outside of his guaranteed money past 2014 should a new contract be agreed upon. Oh wow, how emotional that is.

Les is not a top 5 coach and almost no one sees him as one outside of some delusional LSU fans. Top 20? yes. Top 10? Questionable.

But an argument could easily be made that puts him in the top-10..
Is that not good enough for LSU?

I am fine with his salary. I just wish the buyout would be reduced a bit. Even put it at $10 Million. $15 million just kills any power the University has unless Les somehow gets the school effed over (i.e. sanctions for rule breaking).
