The program has a vacancy at the position after Dowell Loggains, who spent the past two seasons in the role in Columbia, left to become the head coach at Appalachian State.
Shula spent the 2024 season on Shane Beamer’s staff with a title of Senior Offensive Assistant and worked closely with the quarterbacks, including standout redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers.

I like the idea of Shula working with Sellers.
It'll be interesting, and I'm more optimistic about this than I was Loggains. Best of luck to him at App. He has some big flaws but a lot of credit is given to him and Shula for Sellers development.

That he refused staff changes was the sticking point iirc and it was far from a sure bet Saban would come when you fired Shula. Given the circumstances Mike inherited it was a rightly criticized firing at the time.
