Pretty good pickup for them and a great spot for him! Grambling about
to be a hot bed for NOLA talent!
Joseph to Grambling

Grambling State University will introduce Mickey Joseph as its new head football coach, according to a source. Dr. Trayvean Scott, the Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, will hold a press conference on Monday, December 18 at 10:00 AM to announce the new hire.

Mickey Joseph's offensive coordinator will reportedly be Eric Dooley. Dooley brought Prairie View A&M and Southern University to the SWAC Football Championship games in consecutive seasons. He was dismissed as head coach of the Jaguars before this year's Bayou Classic.

I wanted him or either stay in house with John Simon. Hope Simon gets a chance in the future someplace.

Don’t he have some sort of incident at Nebraska? I can’t remember what happened

The felony assault case against former Nebraska interim head coach and assistant Mickey Joseph was dismissed Wednesday because the accuser refuses to testify.

Joseph had faced a charge of assault by strangulation or suffocation in connection with a November domestic disturbance at the home where he and his wife, Priscilla Joseph, lived.

He addressed it 2 weeks ago on a very informal podcast. Google " HBCU Coaches Corner with Johnnie Cole & Mickey Joseph " if interested in his answer. Not the best answer( very informal) ,but cited due process & the charges being dismissed.

Reportedly bringing in former Southern head coach Eric Dooley in as offensive coordinator. Assume that means John Simon will be leaving Grambling.

Proof that the Art Briles controversy at Grambling was about keeping a qualified white man out of a job.

A questionable OC hire, who called the offense for Southern, that Joseph may be letting go by the end of next season. Southern just fired him with $600K left to pay and that's saying a lot for an HBCU. Dooley couldn't choose the right QB and did not want to make a change when it was needed.

And as qualified as he is, he couldn't land a gig in the SEC or the Big 12. You do know what happened at Baylor, right?

I made no moral judgments against Briles, but I didn't understand why Grambling would lose any goodwill by hiring him. The CFL blocked a team from hiring him & a few weeks ago there was dusgust & outrage because he was simply on the Sooners sideline "after" a game. An apology had to be issued. I would have loved to have someone like Briles , but he's completely toxic.

Joseph's legal issues( dismissed) is the main reason Grambling had a shot at him.

Dooley & Joseph both coached under Fobbs at Grambling back in 15/16 or so(damn good teams) . I imagine they are good friends & he trusts Dooley as an assistant . I heard Grambling was trying to get him keep a couple of Hue's assistants, but Joseph wanted his own people. If Dooley is in that means Jon Simon is out as OC & may have been one of the coaches Grambling wanted to keep.

Do you think Simon would be okay with staying on as just a position coach?

I can't say. But I'm not sure how many options he has now. He came out of Memphis with some baggage( harassment claims ).
