The media bias for S. Cal is really starting to show with all the talking heads trashing Carroll for making a career move. He has a front page hate session on ESPN.com -and it headlines, "Now more than ever, USC needs Pete Carroll. Abandoning SoCal is so not cool, dude" ...Their beloved Trojan sink is sinking:

LINK

"When it came time to dig deeper, to start the climb up the mountain again, Carroll headed out the door."--Maisel, ESPN

LINK

"In the face of his first hint of adversity at USC, football coach Pete Carroll is fleeing for the National Football League." --Forde, ESPN

Here's some whining:

"Will Carroll's departure mean another 25-year drought? Did Los Angeles just lose the closest thing it had to an NFL team?" --Wojciechowski, ESPN

LINK

How about this guy? "Carroll, NFL still a lousy FIT!" --Chadiha, ESPN. Then he proceeds to say: "That fat deal he recently accepted -- one reportedly worth $35 million over five years -- won't be nearly as capable of insulating his pride from all the abuse he'll be taking publicly."

You think a bunch of "unbiased" media commentators are just a bit pissed about their Trojans? LOL

Only a FOOL would turn down 7 mil a year for 5 years and so much control / support.

Its silly to whine about that

Saban had all the same controls at Miami. I predict that Ole Petie will be back in the college ranks in 3 years.

I dont think so , Pete Carroll has a lot more experience in the NFL than Saban. I believe Saban had the one stint with Bill Belichik at the Cleveland Browns while Petey has had much longer stint even though not so hot with the NY jets but great tutelage under Bill Walsh at San Francisco. I believe that ole Petey has a little more than Saban to be successful in the NFL. Now in college ranks Saban is by the far king on the mountain and there is no doubt about that.

Pete's got a great deal with the S Hawks - 7 m a year. Secondly, he is absolutely jumping a ship that he help set on fire with NCAA violations. Can't blame him for jumping, but he deserves some slaps for bailing when his sins are exposed. Too bad college coaches aren't held accountable for the trash they leave behind.

If the hammer is coming down on USC then Carroll picked the perfect exit strategy really... if you want to keep coaching anyway

Not nearly the same level of media attention up there either

and will get a HUGE contract in the process.

Pete really had nothing to lose by going to the NFL.

If he succeeds, then it was worth it

If he flames out, he comes back to college, (colleges will be falling over themselves to hire him), can wait for the prefect job and get PAID

ESPN and every one of their talking heads rode Pete Carroll's cock for years until just now when they hopped off.

Roger S. Goodell should block this hire. He seems to have a hard stance against football players and potential owners. Why not coaches know to run dirty programs where drugs are allowed to be given out to coaches and players. Looks like a double standard.

No one has mentioned he is fleeing before the NCAA shows up and lays the hammer down.

Most of the guys giving Carroll grief are tremendous USC lovers. He should be praised and immortalized for what he did for that program. They sucked and were nothing when he came in and now it's the premier job in college football.Pure hate and jealousy by people that are dogging him.The program is dirty but i don't think Carroll endorsed most of that.He just didn't do anything to try and stop it.The boosters and big money celebrities and fans of he program were trying to give LA a top football team to keep pace with the rest of the country. They don't have pro football so they did the next best thing.Turn USC into a de facto pro team. The media guys are just mad that they will not be getting so many free trips to lA anymore.
