This is a quality thread I enjoyed reading

That’s it? McNeese may be the next to leave.

They are tired of losing coaches every 2 years. I think it’s 200-250
Well, if he turns McNeese around, he'll be gone in 3

Rumor has McNeese leaving the Southland
This rumor is false. McNeese actually just agreed to have all conference Championships/Tournaments in Lake Charles for the foreseeable future

Where would McNeese go? They just said no to the WAC and there have to be at least 5-6 teams ahead of them on CUSA's list if they were to expand

Until CUSA breaks down and invites them. That’s what they’re waiting for. Southland Conference even agreed to hold all tourneys in Lake Charles after McNeese told them that the plan is still in place to move up.
The WAC is nothing but the SLC rebuilt at the FCS division and honestly looks like shite. McNeese wants CUSA and will wait. I guess they feel like they have leverage somewhere.

I can't imagine CUSA would take McNeese over SFA, ACU, Eastern Kentucky, Missouri State, UTC. Maybe I am missing some appeal that McNeese has over those schools.

They would take SFA and ACU over McNeese? Former SLC members? Know anything about McNeese’s program?
They have more conference titles than the rest of the conference teams COMBINED. If McNeese wins, fans show up and the program makes money. Since Viator left and the hurricane passing through, it’s been a little bit of a rough patch for a few years now.
With that said, they’re fully capable of being a productive and successful program.

I'm a UWG grad. Once we snatched David Dean from y'all, we just knew we were on our way to dominating the GSC and winning a title. Yet y'all proceed to get even better, and we proceed to continue losing to y'all every year.

Yeah, I don't see how Nacogdoches is seen as more desirable than Lake Charles. Conference expansion is driven by the almighty dollar. Going into a city with the infrastructure and population that Lake Charles has makes more sense than Nacogdoches. Not to mention average attendance, where McNeese has long been one of (if not the) top programs in the Southland for a long time.
The only somewhat logical argument for SFA being more appealing is the existing footprint of CUSA in Texas.
Abilene at least has size going for it, but that program doesn't have much history. And their attendance was worse than SFA's 2 years ago.
None of the 3 meet the FBS attendance requirements, so it's probably pointless to even discuss at this point. But McNeese at least has the potential to hit 15k or 20k fans on average. Everyone else in the league (including former members) barely hits half of that, if they are even that high. I saw an article a while back with average attendance from 2015-2019 for the FCS. McNeese somewhere around 20th in the nation with almost 11k; the next closest of the current and former Southland teams was Central Arkansas at 7800.
No wonder the Southland threw everything plus the kitchen sink at us.

The Southland needed McNeese more than the other way around. McNeese wanted them to show the commitment to them and help rebuild LC since the hurricanes.
Its fascinating to see what McNeese would be if they were like they were in the 90s and early 2000s. They were elite and often sold out.
The main issue is they are a small university and dont have much money. Thats what it always comes down to.

UWG didn't snatch Dean from VSU. He left VSU to be the offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern and took the UWG job after being fired from GSU.
