If he really wants to coach he should volunteer and show that he has the ability to coach and then get a job.
He's a great guy and knows his shite no doubt. But that doesn't mean he would be a great coach. I hope that if he does want to coach he gets a chance somewhere and I hope he is great at it. I just agree with lsu that they need a proven guy at this point.

So, possible recruiting titles and putting Players in the NFL more important now than winning/competing for championships?

Very classy on Mawae's part.

Sorry i inadvertantly hit a downvote on Kevin's terrific comment and tried to correct it immediately. Could not do so. Would like to see a fix on this feature.

Mawae will get an opportunity eventually, he's still young in the coaching world. It just wasn't the right time for him right now. I know he wants to be a big part of his kids' lives right now and being on the recruiting trail and practice field doesn't lend itself to that.

What you said doesnt make any sense

He needs to try to be an oline coach at a smaller school and work his way up to lsu

You don't know much about the importance of Oline coaches do you?

I think that he will wait to get into coaching professionally. He'll probably hang out around LSU a d help out though.
Something in his comments gave me the idea that he wasn't prepared for the time commitment.

Damn. Wish we could find a spot for that guy.

He would be a better NFL line coach. I'm sure all coaches love to coach technique, but who knows if Mawae would want to be away from his family for long periods of time while he's out watching hs games.

Assistant S&C Coach.
It's how Bama does it.

What makes you disagree with that statement?
