The tides are changing.

College coaches no longer have to go to the NFL to make good money. They're not going to take these marginal NFL jobs just to flame out after 2 years.

This. This. This.

Why leave somewhere you're making comparable money, and you have autonomy over your personnel, recruiting, schemes etc..
and you deal with 18-22 year old kids, most of whom are busting their tail to impress you/earn a spot vs. coaching spoiled millionaires who will always outlast a coach.

Exactly. The NFL job risks aren’t worth the reward anymore for college coaches. Why go to the NFL when you are already making millions, control your own program, don’t have to put up with NFL players spoiled shite, and for someone like Campbell can go 7-5, 8-4 every year and be a hero, while a few 7-9, 8-8’s in the NFL can get you canned.

If God so loved LSU, this miracle would happen.

Yeah, because Houston is such a football powerhouse. Those people should be happy with 7-5, 8-4. Unrealistic expectations leads to bigger failure.

Yeah, "those people" shouldn't want to do better than 8-5. What are they thinking? It's so unrealistic for UH to expect better; it's not like they won the Peach Bowl three years ago.

I don’t know? That’s what you all say about us st Mississippi State. Houston hasn’t been any better than us the last 40 years, but we are supposed to accept mediocrity. Why can’t they?

I’d bet Aranda gets promoted if this happens.

I feel like Aranda is potentially HCIW already, ala Lincoln Riley.

I don't know who says Miss St should accept mediocrity. They shouldn't. And the idea that UH should just accept it is absurd. UH wants to win, and Fertitta is apparently willing to foot the bill.

UH may never get in the Big12, but their failure to invest in athletics in the 80s and 90s left them on the outside looking in. If there's an opportunity to improve their standing down the road, they want to do everything they can to take advantage of it.

It’s a lot tougher to win in the NFL especially at a bad team. An elite college program would be the best job to have .
