MacIntyre name is also floating.

I think we need to go after Mac and bring him back home to the SEC.

I'd go after MacIntyre too. I had no clue he was doing so well out there

I agree with Mac...dude is working with dog shite out on the west coast and tuning it into chicken salad. Has SEC ties and coached with the Cowboys. I think he would be a nice fit at UK.

MacIntrye's job at SJSU is pretty amazing. There's lots of talent there, that school just never gave a shite about their football program.

I read that they relied on Juco's and it damaged their APR to the point of almost never having more than 71 scholarships to work with. Mac changed their entire way of thinking and approach to the philosophy of running a program.

That alone will get him a bigger, better job.

I agree Mike. Cats Illustrated will have none of that talk though. It's like fantasyland over there.

Didn't you want a defensive guy? I may be wrong, but either way, I think it would be an outstanding hire.

I want an offensive guy. As far as Stoops, we're treading back into that coordinator who has never been a HC territory that I'm leery about given the state of our program.

:raiseshand: I want a defensive guy. Offense will be fine, defense wins in the SEC, and I'd like to win a few games...

I'm also beginning to think that Kentucky's window for hiring a decent coach is going to close rapidly with all of the openings occurring now. If Barnhart doesn't have someone lined up already, it increases the likelihood we get stuck with a secondary choice.

Was it a mistake to release Joker?

No. Even with the coaching openings. We would've been in an even shittier situation if we hadn't.

And at this point, you're probably not going to hear much if you're going after anyone who is worth a shite and will be in a bowl game. At least not for a little bit.

My number one guy is an offensive guy. I never said I was exclusively tied to just an offensive guy.

I was reading his bio on Wiki. He's coached at Ole Miss, Duke, as well as the Cowboys and Jets. He took over a 2-10 team, and they have gone 1-12, 5-7, 10-2 this year. I would be fine with him.

Like I have said, I want UK to hire a defensive HC and he would fit that mold.

Yeah, but this isn't the WAC and it will be much harder to duplicate this in the SEC.

Then who do you realistically go get with HC experience and not a lot of baggage with half the conference full of job openings?

I get what you're saying, but everybody starts somewhere.

I don't think the person needs to have HC experience. Someone hired all the greats at some point without the experience. Some work some don't. Just because Joker didn't, doesn't mean you take a shite on everyone without it. I would MUCH prefer a coordinator from a bigger school than a HC at SJSU. Like I said, he may work, but Mitch can't afford to F this up. A name like Stoops turns heads. A name like MacIntyre gets...who?

I think what makes the UK job appealing right now, is there is a fair amount of young talent on the team, current freshman and sophomores who have played a lot of minutes. It "shouldn't" be as difficult to start moving forward fairly quickly with the right coach.

Our offense will be pretty good next year with everyone back, and a defensive head coach with a good DC will make the defense better as well.

Kentucky could get competitive quickly.

MacIntyre is a good name, but what about Dave Doeren at NIU?
