he's learned a very effective and popular offense from the guy that perfected it.

Meyer having the guy at Utah then taking him on at FL says a lot to me.

I'm not going to judge him on one year of working with our WRs. People said the same shite about brick haley last season and what a horrible hire that was.

I don't really want him promoted so I'm hoping for someone to sell me on it. I don't think he'd be the malloryfail like some are thinking, just not sure he's the right fit for what we need right now.

Unless you have been in the locker room/coaches meetings/practices with Billy Gonzales, I dont think anyone is qualified to give an opinion on him one way or another, and thats honestly the only problem with him for now.

So how CAN anyone make a case for Gonzales? Likewise, how can anyone make a case against him?

So, in your opinion, TD should dry up and blow away and Chicken should starve?

Seems pretty common to me. Why did aldazio get the OC job over him?

well he had a 12 man coaching staff at Utah his last year. He took 4 with him to FL. One was Gonzales. One was Mullen. The other 2 still coach at FL.

Why did a 25 year coaching vet get the job over a young up and comer? Do I really need to answer that?

Please go on...what exactly do you think we need ? Experienced guy ? NFL guy ? QB guru ?

As for your OP question, BG is exactly what we need right now. He is a young energetic coach, who is hungry for success. He has the attitude and desire needed to lead the Offense in the direction that is needed. If he should stumble or need help he is surrounded by guys all with OC experience at the collegiate level (Stud, Miles, Ensninger and maybe Scelfo as well).

Adazzio was at Florida for 4 years before promotion, Its not like they pulled him off the street. He is an older and more experienced coach. Im guessing that is why he got the job.

I am not sold, but that doesn't mean it won't work out great. I just know what happened the last time Les hired from within (the Co's).

Not my top choice, but wouldnt be horrible. Two reasons I base that on.
1. UF fans wanted him when Mullen left. He called their redzone plays the year after, and if he called those then he obviously had a large input into the offense. The year after he leaves the offense went to crap and everybody wanted Addazio fired.

2. Reports were that he would have a larger role in the cotton bowl gameplanning. JJ had a LOT more interaction with Gonzo on the sideline which would be an indication that the reports were true. Voila we had our best offensive game.

HIring him would not be a sure thing, but I dont believe its the worst hire out there.

I posted the same question a few weeks ago and got the same responses.

The next OC needs to have demonstrated the ability to break down a defense, identify its weaknesses, design a game plan to attack those weaknesses, convey that game plan during game week, and make the calls in game. As talented as Billy is, he has not had the opportunity to demonstrate those capabilities yet. And I don't think Les will go for on the job ylyraining at this time. He tried it with co DCs and got burned.

you realize EVERY offensive coordinator in the HISTORY of football was a 1st year offensive coordinator at one point?

How do you know he hasnt been able to demonstrate that? do you go to practice?

If Gonzales doesnt bring something to a college football team, he would be fired. You just dont stick under a guy like Urban Meyer if you aren't working. Im sure he has a backround in doing al those things

And don't use "it's the reason he came here from UF"

Our passing game was sharp and efficient.

He's a guy who was passed up for Addazio who was horrible -- which basically means that of all the time he spent with Meyer, BG couldn't convince him that he was better than a failure.

How does he convince his team to get behind his playcalling then?

Just don't see it.

It also looks like Mullen was a much larger part of the scene than formerly believed.

Our WRs were not the problem, the problem was the QB getting them the ball. Who coached the QBs? Crowton.

I would like to know if BG will take over that responsibility now though.
