Seems to me the target was Saban since it all came apart about the same time

Wow, what an insane development! 
Whether or not you had Saban actually taking the Texas gig (I was about 50-50, and beginning to lean on him going), you HAD to think Mack was toast. How the hell did he survive?
I'm feeling let down by all this. I was waiting to see Texas come out guns a'blazing, offering to give Saban Galveston (the whole island, not just a beach house) as a summer home, etc.
Did these guys really gather around the table, reflect on what BYU, Ole Miss, and Baylor did to them, and decide "screw chasing after Saban, who seems to be listening; we're gonna keep Mack"? Did Sexton (or Nick) make a late call and say "y'all, don't; we're just fricking with ya?"
SOMETHING happened.

A handful of posters from a certain institution might disagree that Saban was ever open to UT...but yeah, it seems pretty obvious what happened.
