So...walk me through this:
Saban on contract at Bama
Saban signs extension in March to coach thru 2020
Saban might leave Bama
Saban signs another extension, just 9 months later
Saban cannot ever leave Bama now
I'm confused by how this news is supposed to end any speculation. He told LSU he wasn't leaving in 2004. He said he wasn't gonna be the coach at Bama weeks before taking the job. How is this chapter even half way considered closed?
It doesn't, unless the new contact has a huge buyout (or any buyout).
BUT, if Saban was going to leave Bama, it was more likely that he would do so this year for for one of the few (or only) college programs that could lure him from his current position. Given that Mack is apparently staying at UT as of tonight, Saban signing that new contract means that he's staying as well (for as much $$$ as he could milk from Bama without UT actually offering for him).
That doesn't mean Saban doesn't bolt next year, it just makes it more *unlikely* that he leaves, especially that he would leave for UT. If Mack leaves next year, I don't think Saban touches the job (after this year's clusterfrick) with a 10-foot-pole.
It remains to be seen if another job could lure him away. The most likely contender would be an NFL gig given the second-chance success Pete Carroll has had and what some perceive as Saban's want to correct his own NFL failure. But given Saban's reputation in the pros, no NFL team is likely to throw the bank at him...and he's not in Pete Carroll's position (looming NCAA sanctions) where he'd be willing to leave Bama just to get away/who the frick cares about the salary.
Which means he's staying at Bama for the foreseeable future.

Nah just curious how a non-coaching change gets stickied on a coaching changes board.

I realize that. But there was never a vacancy at either school?

You don't have to try and be clever, bud. It was a speculation and rumor thread about a potential coaching change. Have a nice night.

Next year will be the same shite. LSU fans starting threads about Alabama's coach leaving...... Different year, same shite. This was the 7th yearof it. Next year they'll do it again. Frickers will NEVER EVER get over losing Saban. Lol.

Sounds like you have a strong case for the Message Board Supreme Court.

I'm personally looking forward to it.

And I'm fine with it. Saban has burned a lot of goodwill in gumpland. I think karma will land on him in a big way in the coming seasons.

He kind of deserved it, he took his lumps all week and held his cool.
I'm sure tonight has been pretty satisfying for him, he invested more time on this board this week than one of those WoW nerds.
for those that would like to help, i started thread on help board to bring Genro back.

and this hurts you how?

If the signs point to him leaving, yes, there will be more threads like this one. I don't know why you're surprised, unless you don't understand how message boards work which is completely understandable I suppose.

Why wouldn't we do this again next year? They're crying even worse since they got the good news. How in the hell is that possible?
